With Avengers: Infinity War about to kick off the road to the end of "Phase 3", Marvel Studios has been pretty tight lipped on anything that's coming next for "Phase 4". Feige had mentioned the next phase will begin with the Spiderman sequel & Guardians of the Galaxy 3 , but that's about all. However, last night Collider dropped all kinds of Marvel Studios news, starting with Marvels absence from Hall H this year at Comic Con in San Diego. It looks like this is mainly because they don't have anything new to announce yet. Still not wanting to release the name of Avengers 4, it's looking to me like they don't want to fully commit yet. Probably because there's a lot on the table. Some of which probably being the looming Fox deal. Even though Feige told the Playlist it would take years, & definitely not affect the five already announced films. Which, I'll give him those five. They'll play us out through next year. That's the year this deal is supposed to go through though. At the halfway point of that year those Fox owned characters will most likely be back with Marvel. I'm thinking years is right, but only about two. Until that happens though, Feige did state that Eternals as well as Nova are a couple of characters in immediate consideration for Phase 4 in an interview with Comicbook.com. This is an interesting choice for me. Nova is a given due to his ties to Guardians & the Nova Corps.. Eternals is the one that surprises me. That's a tricky one for anyone who knows the lore of Celestial experiments on Earth. That's gonna be a hard theater sell, but so was Guardians of the Galaxy, & it's still one of my favorites. I don't know to much about the Eternals except the basics. I'm more familiar with Neil Gaiman's "reboot" than I am with the original Kirby material. It's a lot to take in, I remember that. The last piece of news comes in the form of director Ryan Coogler & Black Panther 2 . In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige stated that they want Ryan to come back, & they're working on it right now. He's say it will depend on when Ryan wants to, but he's pretty sure he has an idea of when. He reiterates that there will be no official line up announcements until after Avengers 4 . So the awesome direction of Black Panther will continue in it's sequel. More so however, it looks like even the two films they had mentioned to kick off phase 4 could also be in the air now. After those statements phase 4 is all the sudden total mystery. I can't wait to see where all this goes. I actually like the new secrecy, as opposed to here's everything we're doing for the next two or three years. I also can't help but keep thinking how much easier this will be to throw those Fox properties last minute into, than an already laid out plan. So there you go, a little news, & a lot of speculation. What do y'all think on all these developments? What are y'all anticipating for Phase 4? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" The End For Marvel At Fox?
It sounds like Fox & Disney are starting to plan for the inevitable when it comes to the Marvel universe. In a report via Collider by Bryan Andrew at comicgenre.com, apparently Xmen: Dark Phoenix will be the last Marvel entry for Fox. He had attended a speaking engagement with some high-level Fox production crew members discussing the future of Fox's Marvel characters. In the info gathered he stated, "X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be the last proper Fox Marvel movie, presumably also the last in that continuity. The crew behind the camera has been thanked for their work but their services will not be needed any longer, as everything is moving to Disney. Apparently, the X-Men being integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a done deal, and merely awaiting the approval of the merger. Kevin Feige is “hoovering up” all of the Fox-Marvel characters, and is already planning for them all to go into Phase 4. This includes the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four. In what capacity and with what actors was not discussed." If this is really how it went down, there you go. The gears have been put in motion. The mutants & the first family are coming home. The lineup for Phase 4 is now through the roof. Hell, I'm actually excited to watch things I've already seen before. Just because now, they're gonna be done right. You know, like Gambit, or anything Fantastic Four? The developments to come out of this are going to be more than exciting. I'm sure the Marvel Studios "drawing board" has been split in half with what they were planning with what they could now be planning. We've still got awhile before we find out for sure if this is going down. Mid-2019 is about where we're looking for confirmation on finalizing the deal. Fingers crossed. Everyone else excited about this? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "10 Year Legacy" Video Has Me Really Thinking About The Scope Of All This
Marvel just released this video taking us all the way back to the beginning, & it's really got me thinking. Through the next couple of Avengers films, we're really looking at something monumental. Can you think of anything that's ever come close to what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done I the world of film? Star Wars or Star Trek would be the only immediate examples that come to mind, & they only have half the entries of the MCU. To put out this much content is amazing, but for even the bad entries to still be really good films is an amazing feat. I'm hoping for 10 more years plus of this, infinity & beyond for that matter. This just made me stop & think that's all. A huge amount of recognition should go out for the achievement made here, & I don't think people talk about that part enough. You're looking at an actual piece of history now when it comes to these films. This may never be duplicated. You see many are trying. Awesome time to be alive in the world of cinema, & the MCU is the driving reason for that. Keep en comin' Marvel Studios! What are y'alls thoughts on this awesome achievement in history, as well as this somewhat nostalgic trip through the past 10 years? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Thanos Backstory To Be Told Through A New Novel
Star Wars isn't going to be the only game anymore when it comes to cannon reading materials. Marvel's getting into the mix with a novel outlining the back story to the so far mysterious Mad Titan of Avengers: Infinity War. Inside the Magic reports that this November you'll be able to get your hands on the cinematic origins of Thanos. Written by Barry Lyga, here's the official summary of Thanos: Titan Consumed:
Space. Reality. Mind. Power. Time. Soul.
Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots…
Infinity Stones.
Only beings of immense power can hope to wield these stones, but for those who are worthy, the powers of a god await.
Thanos is one such being. But he wasn’t always.
Born on a doomed world and cast out by his people for his genius, physical deviancy, and pragmatic but monstrous ideas, Thanos is determined to save the galaxy from the same fate as his homeworld… no matter how many billions have to die.
Learn the origins of the most formidable foe the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther have ever faced—a foe whom even a group of remarkable people, pulled together to fight the battles nobody else could, will fail to stop….
Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.
Thanos is here
Does this sound awesome or what? I've read almost all if the Star Wars new canon since Disney took over, & so far, I've enjoyed all of them. Since more than others, but I haven't found a bad one yet. Hopefully, this is a start for Marvel to weave in some extra background for us crazy fans, who just what more & more. It's hard to please people who want to know everything your world has to offer just in a film's time. This allows to go into things that don't fuel the progression of a story. It's like those video game side missions, that sometime wind up being cooler than your actual game. Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on this. What do y'all think? Will y'all be reading the history of Thanos? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
If Only We Have As Much Fun With "Avengers: Infinity War" As It Looks Like They Had Making It
Every time Marvel releases one of these behind-the-scenes featurettes I can't help but see how much fun it looks like everyone involved is having. This new one for Avengers: Infinity War is no exception. How much these people enjoy making these films, & the immediate chemistry displayed between each & every cast member shows why these films have only gotten better for 10 years now. Not only that, but I'm beginning to suspect that Chris Hemsworth is never, not Thor. I'm really starting to think that's just him all the time. These are always fun to watch though, love seeing how much passion Robert Downey Jr. has for this franchise. Enjoy this as much as I did, let me know what you think. Marvel Thanks The Fans For 10 Years
I can't believe it's been 10 years since Iron Man introduced the world at large to a universe I'd been enjoying since I'd learned how to read. Now over 18 films later Marvel Studios proves they definitely understand why with this thank you video to the people that have made it all possible, the Fans. This is a real classy move, that shows why they're successful as they are. All the way to the first after-credit scene, they've been thinking about us fans. There was no big plan yet, that was just for fans, & that's awesome on so many levels. Keep doing what you're doing Marvel Studios, & I'm sure you'll see another 10+ years in your future. Can't wait for Phase 4!
Looks Like We're Gonna Get Some Heroes For Hire Action On Netflix
Luke Cage & The Immortal Iron Fist, Heroes for Hire. Ever since Netflix announced these two in their line up those are the words I've been waiting to hear. And with this Empire's Pilot TV exclusive photo from Season 2 of Luke Cage, it looks like I'm getting one step closer to that becoming a reality. It looks like we might see the two man team starting to develop here. The issue also gives us the tease that Danny will help Luke channel his chi, leading me to guess this will strengthen the relationship even further. Fingers crossed this is received well, & we get the announcement of a Heroes For Hire going into development next. I'd be more hyped for that than I was Defenders. While I agree with most that the first season of Luke Cage fizzled out in the second half, the first half was some of the best television I've seen. I'm hoping when season 2 drops on June 22nd, it stays consistent all the way through. As for the Iron Fist , I think he got a bad rap. I really liked that whole season. Not sure why it got so much hate. Anyway, excited for Luke Cage season 2, but even more so about the implications that could reside in this pic. Here's to the hope that season 2 will be the also be the beginning of the eventual team-up I've been waiting for? What do y'all think? Do y'all want to see this built on after season 2? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Attention Marvel Fans... #ThanosDemandsYourSilence
This is great!! The Russo brothers just tweeted out this image of a letter being delivered by Thanos. They have a really good point too. I've been noticing in the slew of TV trailer spots for Avengers: Infinity War last week, that they're playing any extra details from this film close to the chest coming to it's April 27th release date. Besides teenage Groot, there was only a smidgen of new stuff among 3 or 4 spots. Knowing that I really do hope people can listen to the Mad Titan as he demands silence upon spoilers for this film. I think there's going to be some big surprises. Bravo for the letter idea, I thought was hilarious. Any thoughts? Put em in the comments, like, & share.
"Captain Marvel" Will Resurrect Some Names From The Dead
Get ready to see dead people on March 8th, 2019. Marvel Studios announced that production has started on Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. In which they revealed some deceased Marvel Universe alumni that will be joining the fray. Considering this film takes place in the 90s before all the MCU films as we know them they can pretty much bring back whoever they want. We already knew we were getting a two eyed Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, but new revelations from EW add Lee Pace & Djimon Hounsou as Ronan the Accuser & Korath of the first Guardians of the Galaxy to the upcoming film. If that's not enough dead men walking, Clark Gregg is coming back to the Marvel Studios big screen as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Phil Coulson. Also known cast include Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, & Jude Law. This is friggin' awesome! I hope this isn't all the characters that pop up. I'm guessing Cap is still frozen even? I wonder if this will open up the timeline further to add in things here & there. This feels like a dangerous, yet highly intriguing move for a series already so deep in. This could stir up so many inconsistencies. If they do it smoothly though, the sky's the limit to what they can do. If they can fit this in seamlessly, the timeline is irrelevant. They can put stuff on as they see fit, opening up so many possibilities. I'm super excited for this one. Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck based on their screenplay alongside Meg LeFauve, Nicole Pearlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, & Carly Mensch. And on that note, what do ya'll think if these additions? Anyone else you'd like to see in the 90s? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Trailer For "Avengers: Infinity War" Delivers On So Many Levels
Marvel Studios has just dropped the newest trailer for Avengers: Infinity War , & it shows exactly why this is my most anticipated film this year. I've already watched this thing three times & it's been up less than 20 minutes. I can't even pick a favorite moment. It's somewhere in between Star Lord & Iron Man coming up with a plan, or the Spider-Man/Dr. Strange introduction. That action looks like it's on an epic Lord of the Rings scale. The craziest part about that statement? I'm doubting they've showed us anything that happened past the 30 minute to an hour mark. I'm betting this is tame compared to what's to come when we see the whole thing on April 27th. Also really cool is you get a blink & you'll miss it shot of Thanos' "Black Order". That's his crew of super villains. In fact, you get a really good look at the finished product for that Ebony Maw vs Dr. Strange scene we saw pics for last year behind the scenes. He looks awesome. All the heroes going to war in Wakanda looks awesome. Hell, this whole friggin' trailer looks awesome. I can't wait, & though they didn't show him much, apparently Hulk plays a big part in this who me thing. According to Ruffalo, Banner has a lot more control now, Hulk will use simple sentences now, & he will be bringing the warning of Thanos. He also touched on not really understanding the events of Civil War . Hulk was off planet so he & Banner see this from the outside looking in. Anyway, check out the trailer, & let me know what you think. Something this big will definitely be rolling over into Avengers 4. Put your thoughts in the comments, like, & share.
Netflix Releases Announcement Trailer For Marvel's "Luke Cage"
Netflix has announced season 2 of Marvel's Luke Cage with an action packed announcement trailer. June 22nd is the day to mark on your calendar to see the further adventures of Harlem's invulnerable hero in a hoodie. I really enjoyed the first half of the first season. The second half was kind of a trainwreck, but for TV standards still good. They were just delivering movie standards in the first half though. One mistake derailed the thing. Anyway, this trailer is basically just saying, "Remember Luke Cage? He's coming back." Will you be there? Put it in the comments, like, & share
"Avengers: Infinity War" Moves Up Date
Couldn't wait for Avengers: Infinity War? Good, you just got your wish. Marvel has announced it's pushing the first part if the comic book film to end comic film's as we know it, up a week to April 27th. Making a lot of sense, as it puts a little more distance between it & Solo: A Star Wars Story. I'm excited. Mainly because the month of April was looking pretty lonely, now it's home to my most awaited film of the year. Gotta love when a film gets pushed up instead of back. Gotta love this new poster too just for laziness. The art dept. just said change the date on the old one & splash some color on it. What do y'all think? Sooner the better? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Trailer For Marvel's "Cloak & Dagger"
Out of everything I've seen so far for Marvel's upcoming Cloak & Dagger coming to Freeform, this one just didn't really do it for me. That's just this trailer, as I'm still highly awaiting the show's June 7th premier. I really just wasn't feeling the style of it. Also, this was the first time I really started to worry about how much "Cloak & Dagger" as opposed to teen drama are we gonna get? I'm still not ready to write off Freedom's first steps into the Marvel universe, but I do have realistic expectations after Agents of SHIELD, & even more so the horrible Inhumans. Which I watched all the way through, & while not as bad as they say, it's a far cry from good. Are y'all diggin' this trailer though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Captain Marvel" Has Added Antagonist, Minn-erva To It's Ranks
Upcoming "prequel" to the Marvel Universe, & possible "Secret Wars" launching point, Captain Marvel has added an antagonist in the form of Minn-Erva. Deadline reports that Humans star Gemma Chan is set to play the role. Minn-Erva is a Kree geneticist that wanted to use the original Captain Mar-Vell's (Jude Law) genes to advance the Kree genetic code in the comics. You can imagine she was ticked when she tracked him to Earth only to find out he passed his powers unto Carol Danvers (Brie Larson). That's the extent of the knowledge I have on the character, & to be honest I went to my trusty Marvel encyclopedia for that. I like the setup though. She's got Magneto or Killmonger goals, in which she's trying to help her people. When you give a maniacal villain a noble cause it just makes the story not only relatable, but sometimes it even makes it harder to choose sides. To me, it's that kinda conflict that makes your story that much more special. Anyway, what do y'all think, & does anyone watch Humans ? I know absolutely nothing about Gemma Chan. Thoughts? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Black Panther" T-shirt Contest!!
Alright y'all, first contest ever for Snipes-N-Snarfblatts! I made a shirt for the premier of Black Panther to wear to the film & for the review video. I usually make two just in case one goes wrong. However, this time I got it right on the first try. Leaving me with an extra shirt to give away to y'all. It's an XL grey shirt featuring the cover of Fantastic Four #52, the first appearance of Black Panther. All you have to do is like, share, & comment on this post & March 17th, one month from today, I will pick a random winner, & reply to the winning comment where to send your info. Unfortunately, this first contest is lower 48 United States only. Gotta figure this whole thing out first, & little by little I'll expand the range.
"Avengers: Infinity War" Tease In Marvel's 10th Anniversary "Class Photo"
Want a sample of what's to come in Avengers: Infinity War ? Check out this video of Oct 7's class photo, celebrating 10 years of Marvel Studios. That stage is a sample of how many people we're talking about when Avengers: Infinity War hits this May 4th. 79 actors & filmmakers side by side, & you can see that the bigger portion of that make-up is actors. When you see them all together, you can't help but be blown away by the size of all of this. Here's to 10 more years just as amazing as the first 10. Thanks Marvel Studios! What do y'all think about this amazing gathering? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Netflix's New "Jessica Jones" Season 2 Trailer Looks Awesome
So, out of all the Marvel shows on Netflix we've got so far, Jessica Jones has probably been my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, I've liked them all. She just happened to be the show I liked the least. Loved David Tennant as Killgrave, & anytime he was there the show really shined. It's just when he wasn't there, I didn't care as much. Now it looks as if we're going to get a Jessica Jones origin story. It also looks really good. This trailer has me very intrigued about a back story I thought I didn't need. I'm already more invested in this than I was in the first run. Even without Tennant's Kilgrave, though I'll take one good guess who that is clapping towards the end. I can't believe it though. All in all, this trailer has me really looking forward to Season 2's March 8th release. What do y'all think? About the first season & this trailer? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Avengers: Infinity War" Too Big For Super Bowl Spot
Super Bowl spots are expensive on a whole crazy level. 30 seconds just isn't enough for an Avengers: Infinity War trailer though. Basically, this is enough time to scroll through the characters. There's a couple new shots, like Cap's Wakanda shield, & Iron Man's nano tech suit. Along with some switch ups to, look at this character with this character, & this one with these guys. I'm still excited for this film. In fact, this is probably my most anticipated film this year, & the trailer looks good. It just made me realize how precious time is going to be during this film. There are a lot of cogs in this machine, & this trailer made me see, it's going to be a real trick getting all those cogs to shine & stand out. Building an enormous cast of heroes up as well as trying to develop a villain on a worthy enough scale to face them all? That's a lot. This trailer just gave me a new perspective of thought on this film. Can't wait. What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
First Official Trailer For "Ant-Man & The Wasp"
Ant-Man really shocked the hell outta me. I've loved Paul Rudd since Clueless, but I never thought I was going to love that film as much as I did. When Marvel said gheuu we're making a comedy I was a little worried. The balance in the first film was amazing though. Just enough hero & just enough funny not to take away from it. This new trailer looks like we pick up right where that film & Civil War let off. Scott's on house arrest, but when Hank Pym needs you, Hank Pym needs you. Expect more of the shrinking & growing comedy evident in the Hello Kitty scene. Wasp actually looks like she may steal the show with her upgrades. Her upgrades setting up some more of the funny throughout as Ant-Man finds himself lacking. I love this cast, & am so happy they all came back. Overall, this trailer looks like this film is going to deliver everything I want. Won't know for sure until July 6th, but what did y'all think of this trailer? And do y'all want a building like that? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Check Out This Whole Action Piece From "Black Panther"
I think the biggest thing I'm impressed with so far is how there's been so many trailers for Black Panther, but we still haven't seen much. Each trailer just built on the scenes shown in the previous. Now with the World Premiere of the film out of the way they give us this whole scene taking place in what use to be a casino until they get ahold of it. This action is tight as the whole place erupts into battle. In fact, it makes me wonder who's more of a threat here, Panther or his bodyguard? That staff she carries just jumped onto my want list for the year. If this is the norm for what to expect, this film is going to be way more than a placeholder for the next Avengers . My tickets are burning a hole in my pocket, & I can't wait to see this. What do y'all think? Awesome film coming or placeholder for the next? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
