I was able to catch the new DuckTales on Disney XD during the 24 hr. marathon on Saturday with the whole family, & I had already surmised from what I'd already seen it was going to be good. What I didn't figure for however, was that it was going to be that good, I not only loved this, but my whole family loved this. A family that consists of a range of ages might I add. I think the best part about this whole thing is how everything is different, yet it still all manages to feel the exact same as the original show we loved. There's some total nostalgic bits in there. At one point you get to run through a who's who of artifacts fans of the original will be able to pick out. Then there comes the same but different stuff, which all works by the way. First & foremost Donald has a part this time. Same Donald you know & love just not left behind to join the Navy this time around. He also is not to fond of Uncle Scrooge. Apparently, he was his traveling partner through his treasure seeking adventures until a fallout. Uncle Scrooge is a little different than you remember. He's best described as the Scrooge from the original DuckTales, if he went on all of those adventures with just Donald instead. Now we're years after where he's feeling like a has-been. Launchpad is his driver-slash-pilot-slash-comic relief. The nephews Huey, Dewey, & Louie now have a reason for you to try to remember their names. These guys should've had three distinct personalities from the get go. It's an idea that works so great, that thought is all that can keep going through your head. Another in needed changes was Webby. She is now an intimidating, martial arts using, weapons-wielding, bad-@$$. Far from the whiny, little girl character from the previous iteration. This was great for me, as her character got on my nerves as much as it did the nephews when I was a kid. Seeing her as just another kid capable of her own contributions was a really cool character change. Like I said everything new worked great. This was an amazing pilot, & more than all of this it was hilarious. This episode was genuinely funny. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how funny this episode was. Disney has some really good comedic writers over there right now on some of these cartoons. I found myself laughing through most of it, & smiling throughout the rest. I can't wait to see the rest of this series!! They totally nailed this one. Even more than all this though, I would love to know what anyone else thought about it? Especially the changes from the original, was there anything you wish would've stayed the same? Leave it in the comments, like, share, & give it a watch. The whole Woo-oo! episode is now available on YouTube, check it out...
