This official trailer for Mulan immediately brings to mind such films as Hero & Once Upon a Time in China. Which is really good company to have in my eyes. I was never a big fan of the original animated Mulan. It just didn’t deliver on the action I felt it could have to round it out all together. This looks like it takes that story, tweaks it a little, but mainly adds all that bad ass martial arts action I was looking for in its predecessor. The witch aspect add a level of mysticism reminiscent of what you’d find in some of my favorite Wu Tang films. I’ve been really pumped for this ever since I heard this classic martial arts epic style was being used, & now that I see a small hint of what’s to come, I’m even more excited. As if you don’t know the basics already here’s the synopsis that came with the trailer, “When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father. “Mulan” features a celebrated international cast that includes: Yifei Liu as Mulan; Donnie Yen as Commander Tung; Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan; Yoson An as Cheng Honghui; with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor. The film is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan.”” an amazing cast, with a director who is staying very true to the original poem. Great 1st trailer her though. Really gets me anticipating March 2020. Which honestly, is way closer than it seems. What do y’all think though? Does this do it for you? Are you still on the fence? What are your feelings on this versus the original animated film? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Pixar's “Soul" Teaser Has Arrived
This seems way more like what we've grown to expect from Pixar than the upcoming Onward. I say that mainly because I'm definitely more intrigued by the contents of this Soul teaser than any & everything I've seen out of Onward. This feels like it has all the emotion & soul if you will, of previous Pixar films. While the comedy seems like it's there, it by no means seemed to be the only intent. Even in just this teaser I see something that I feel like we’ll be talking about for years. The synopsis that came with the trailer was deep. Directed by two-time Academy Award®-winner Pete Docter, & co-directed by Kemp Powers with Academy Award®-nominee Dana Murray producing, Soul opens in theaters on June 19, 2020. According to Docter, “It started with my son—he’s 23 now—but the instant he was born, he already had a personality,” says Docter. “Where did that come from? I thought your personality developed through your interaction with the world. And yet, it was pretty clear that we’re all born with a very unique, specific sense of who we are.” Soul introduces Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz. “I think Joe is having that crisis that all artists have,” says Powers. “He’s increasingly feeling like his lifelong dream of being a jazz musician is not going to pan out and he’s asking himself ‘Why am I here? What am I meant to be doing?’ Joe personifies those questions.” The synopsis went on , “In the film, just when Joe (Jamie Foxx) thinks his dream might be in reach, a single unexpected step sends him to a fantastical place where he’s is forced to think again about what it truly means to have soul. That’s where he meets and ultimately teams up with 22 (Tina Fey), a soul who doesn’t think life on Earth is all it’s cracked up to be.” This sounds fabulous! Great talent, & a story that will undoubtedly come with some amazing music, heart, & soul. What did y'all think of this amazing teaser trailer? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney's “Jungle Cruise” Gets An Official Trailer
Disney has been trying to capture the attraction goes movie magic of Pirates of the Caribbean for awhile now. Judging by this official trailer for their newest attempt in the form of Jungle Cruise, they might actually pull that off this time around. Starring guaranteed money, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson & Emily Blunt in an adventure filled Amazon adventure, I loved this trailer's ode to the ride that inspired the film. With The Rock taking the role of a scam of a tour boat Captain not too far from the actual attraction. Emily Blint will hire his boat being the ambitious treasure hunter she us. Depending on where the adventure takes us, this could prove to finally revisit the greatness that Pirates achieved. Loved this first trailer, can’t wait to see more. How about y'all? Can this match the level of greatness of Pirates of the Caribbean? Or will people be scared away ala Haunted Mansion? Put your thoughts in the comments, like, & share.
New “Onward" Trailer. Wait, It's About What Now?
I've been wondering what a post-Lasseter Pixar was going to look like. If these trailers for Onward have been any sign, I’m a little worried about what's to come. While this looks like it could be hilarious, & the animation looks great, the previews make it seem like it’ll be somewhat forgettable. Like a DreamWorks film. While they’re good, they don’t seem to stick around & pop up in my everyday life forever like Disney, Disney/Pixar films do. This new trailer gives us a look into the actual plot, & for me it takes yet another step into DreamWorks territory. When both the brother pass 16 their dad left them magic wand that can bring him to life for 1 day. However, when they try, they only bring back his bottom half. The 3 go on a quest to finish the spell & return their dad fully. The unicorns once again were favorite part of the trailer. The rest looks like it could be absolutely hilarious, with a great team in Pratt & Holland. I just don’t know if it's going to move past hilarious to the kind of thing we’re used to from Pixar. Fingers crossed though. I want to see Pixar keep churning out classics. Curious to hear what others think about this one though. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Lady and the Tramp" Dominates Disney Side Of Disney+, D23 Panel
Disney unleashed this slee of trailers for content coming to Disney+, & out of their camp Lady & the Tramp dominated. Described as “a timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic, a pampered house dog and a tough but lovable stray embark on an unexpected adventure and, despite their differences, grow closer and come to understand the value of home.” This looks amazing! The real animals mixed with CGI look great. Hands down this was the shining gem of all the trailers I've seen, & have down here. Disney-wise this is the one for me release day for Disney+. Next up was Noelle. I'm not sure about this one. When I first heard of it, it sounded horrible. This trailer gives me a little hope though. It could be straight to video funny. It's official synopsis is, “Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over from their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.” Fingers crossed, but I'm not placing any bets on this one. Same goes for High School Musical: The Musical - The Series. One I already thought was a horrible idea only furthered by the trailer & concept. Which goes, “The 10-episode scripted series, set as the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school's first-ever production of "High School Musical." With meta references and some docu-style elements, it's a modern take on the "classic" from 15 years ago. Show-mances blossom; friendships are tested, while new ones are made; rivalries flare; songs are sung; and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.” This looked like a train wreck trying to capture an Office style with the nostalgia of High School Musical. Count me out. Wasn't too much more impressed with Encore!. “Executive Producer Kristen Bell brings together former castmates of a high school musical, tasking them with re-creating their original performance in a high school reunion like no other. Emotions run high as the former students face faded friendships, former flames, self-doubt, and killer choreography. Through it all, these unlikely groups of friends—with the help of Broadway's best—just might pull off a standing-ovation-worthy performance of beloved musicals like "The Sound of Music," "Beauty and the Beast," "Annie" and more.” Love Kristen Bell, but not even she could get me excited for this. I wanted to end on a high note however, & that comes in the form of something that comes a little after launch, One Day at Disney. “The spectacular collectible book and documentary shines a dazzling light on the creative forces in front of the cameras and behind the scenes at The Walt Disney Company. On December 3, the same day the book arrives in stores, Disney+ will debut it’s new, 52-episode short-form series One Day at Disney, launching with a feature-length documentary. This exciting new series takes an in-depth look at the unique and surprising roles these men and women call their daily jobs. The series and documentary are from Endeavor Content’s Non-Scripted Division and executive produced by Michael Antinoro and David Chamberlin and produced by Victoria Chamlee.” That's the official synopsis, & I can't wait! I've seen some of thes people do their jobs on a regular basis. Especially the stage shows. This is going to be a real emotional one as these guys have brought me so much enjoyment through their amazing performances. It's a privilege to be let into their lives backstage. Anyway, I'm sure there was more. Be on the lookout next week for the D23 wrap-up video. Love to know what y'all think. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Featurette For "Hakuna Matata" Remake
Today is the day I finally get to see the new more live action, yet still animated Lion King. Beforehand Disney has dropped this video though. It's Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, & Billy Eichner talking about reimagining Hakuna Matata. First off, I love these guys. Haven't seeing the film yet, I love these guys in these roles. I am not however, loving this version of the song though. This video's fun, & I've only heard the song two or three times so far. So, maybe it could grow on me. That said, the original never had to. Curious to see how context affects it. Don't know how I'm feeling goin’ in. It's got some negative feedback. Let y'all know tomorrow with my first thoughts review on YouTube. Until then has anyone else heard this song yet? If so, put your thoughts of it in the comments. Just tryin’ to get a consensus here.
More “Little Mermaid” Casting Fun.. Harry Styles Looked At For Eric
The internet, Twitter in particular, has been on fire as of late between storming Area 51 & #NotMyLittleMermaid. We have more fuel to the fire, so to speak, on the latter of those two now with Harry Styles in early talks to play Prince Eric. This comes from Collider, & displays a pattern in the seeking of the two main stars. They're definitely putting a focus on singing talent. Those that haven’t heard of Harry Styles, the One Direction singer made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk. Of which I haven't seen yet. Leaving with no real ground to make a decision whether I think this is a good fit or not. He looks the Disney Prince part, & can sing. So until otherwise, I've gotta trust ‘em. Feelin’ that way with all these casting developments so far. I don’t really see any major problems. Except for the very publicity stunt feeling Ariel casting. Which is my only concern there. I think Halle Bailey will be great. I hope they keep the look. I saw a drawing of Halle with the straight red hair, purple shell top, & green tail, & it looked absolutely amazing. So, my only concern with her choice is the publicity backlash, & whether it will help or hurt in the long run. I’m even cool with internet sponsor of Terry Crews for Titon. Especially if they keep the blonde hair & beard. That would look epic. While that’s just a fan sponsor the other actual choices really work for me. With McCarthy in talks for Ursula, & Jacob Tremblay & Akwafina nearing deals for Flounder & Scuttle? Not only are the reactions to these decisions hilarious, there actually carving out a music heavy cast that might actually really surprise us. What do y’all think about this potential addition? Styles for Eric? Or no? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Not As Enthusiastic For The Second Trailer For Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil
We got a second trailer for Disney's upcoming October 18th sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, & it definitely didn’t cement the hope I got from the first. Where it does still look like we’re gonna get a much more evilesque Maleficent this time around, my biggest gripe from the first, we got the reason for this in this trailer. Which if I'm reading into correctly it looks like once again there's worse at hand. I have a feeling Michelle Pfeiffer is going to have a much more manipulative evil to her than we see in the trailer. Not to mention the scene after getting wounded where Maleficent is rescued, finding her lost people. Which is what this will them turn into next with Aurora in the middle. Or a facsimile of. Anyway, I’ll pass. I’m gonna see it anyway obviously. Curiosity and all. I’m just definitely not as pumped as I was at first. As it looks like we'll be getting some of the same out of this oneas we did its predecessor. What a waste of great casting. What did y'all think though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
First Teaser For Live Action “Mulan”
The first Official Trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action Mulan is here, & it's awesome. I am not a fan of the original animated film. I felt it was a story of a girl turned warrior with no real evidence of which contained in the film. I’m not talkin' Kill Bill, but at least a little Ninja Turtle martial arts action could've worked. That why when I heard they were going the martial arts epic route with the remake I was totally intrigued. This trailer was everything I wanted from this adaptation. I absolutely loved it. They're really talong this seriously, & first & foremost it's a martial arts epic. I can’t wait for this film. It's got giant names in martial arts for years with Jet Li & Donnie Yen, two of my favorites, & according to the synopsis even, is staying closer to the original content: “When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. The film is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan.”” I’m super pumped for this. Crazy considering it's essentially a remake of a film I don’t really care for. How bout y’all? In or no? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Casting For Live Action “Little Mermaid”
Ariel has been announced for Disney's live-action Little Mermaid remake. Halle Bailey, a singer/actress I'm not so sure I'm too familiar with. She had a song in A Wrinkle in Time. That would probably be familiar. Other than that? Nothing. Zero way to form an opinion going in as of right now on my end. Sometimes that works out for the best though. I can at least say that. I got all this from THR. Which had also mentioned Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, & Melissa McCarthy being in early talks to join the Rob Marshall (“Mary Poppins Returns”) directed adaptation. McCarthy being up for Ursula if all goes through. Who I think i’d actually like in that role. I say actually because I haven't really liked any of the films she’s led. For some reason, I think a villain turn would really work for her though. Definitely some left field casting choices. That totally paid off for Aladdin though. If they can keep this fresh face thing up that’d be awesome to me. Makes it even easier to separate the actress or actor form the whole thing. What's y’alls thoughts though? Put ‘em in the comments, like, & share.
New Featurette For Upcoming “Lion King”
Yesterday, we got this featurette for the upcoming livish-action Lion King, & I feel like I'm the only person who's not thoroughly pumped for this. It visually looks great. Now that we've seen the talking more I can say it's better, we're still not t o the point where it won't take some getting used to. In the snippet of the duet Beyonce totally overpowers Glover singing wise, which never works. Other than that though, I should be all about this movie. I’ve been more excited for way less. Not that I don’t want to see it or anything, I just feel like I’m not as pumped for this as a lot of others. If they do pull this off though, it opens the door for “live-action” animation on a whole new level. There's also, in Favreau we trust. I'm still going in thinking this thing is gonna blow me away. The CG, visual perfection on display can't do that alone. Leaves me wondering what will be new? All these remakes usually have something new to them. I’m thinking that’s where my excitement level's. I can’t seem to think of any big changes we can get to build on this story from the original. July 19th is right around the corner. So, we'll see soon. Until then, I'm still waiting for the thing that gets me to that higher level of excitement going in. What about y'all? Is there anybody that’s also excited, but feels like their level of which should be higher? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Tickets On Sale For "Lion King", New TV Spot.
A new TV Spot for the more live-action yet still animated version of the Lion King came out yesterday to announce today's tickets going on sale. Not only do we get some more actual talking animal footage from Mustafa, we also get our first listen to Donald Glover & Beyonce's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?". It's a total plus on both fronts as well. I'm going to have to listen to the song a few more times to see how it weighs in against the original. First thoughts on the snippet here are good though. Even if it's highly noticeable Beyonce's got a better voice than Glover. Mufasa talking was pretty impressive as well. We've come a long way on the talking animal front it looks like. I also loved the lightning Mufasa in the sky shot. Got my tickets now though. That's as all in as I can get. Now I just have to wait until July 18th. What did y'all think of this TV spot though? In fact, how many are on the fence for this one? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Official Trailer For "Frozen II"
Somehow this trailer was just as awesome as the first for Frozen II, the highly anticipated sequel to one of the highest grossing pieces of animation ever. Along with it we get se teases of finding put how Elsa got her powers, as well as her transition from Queen to Superhero. As the trailer states they've always thought her powers were to much for the world to stand, but now they question if it'll be enough to save it. I'm so excited for this film as the last one was pretty centered in one place. As this one takes the story into new heights with a more action & adventure direction. These previews have brought me in with an amazing amount of anticipation for a film i thought i wasn't even gonna be to pumped about until I saw the first. In fact I kinda wish I could trade spots with Lion King on this one. I'm ready to build a snowman again! What about y'all? Am I the only one that dug this trailer as much as the first? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
First Look At The Villain Of "Toy Story 4" In Action In New Clip
Pixar gave us our first look at Toy Story 4's new villain Gabby Gabby. Seeming to fit in newer villains as of late, she comes in as someone that is seemingly good. When you have a set of creepy, voiceless ventriloquist dummies as henchmen we know that they can't be the case though. I have a feeling Christina Hendricks' Gabby Gabby might wind up being the most villainous toy we've ever got in a Toy Story film. This clip paints her out as helping Woody out, but something about it has me thinking her turn is going to be pretty extreme. I don't know if it's the perfectly deceiving good act, or the fact that I can't get over the creepy ventriloquist dummy. I just think this ones gonna be sinister on a level we've not seen from a toy yet. Anyway, what did y'all think of this clip? Put it in the comments, like, & share.

New "Lion King" Trailer Has Talking Animals!!
Out of all the trailers so far for Disney's upcoming live-action remake The Lion King, I've been waiting for one thing. Talking animals! Finally, someone has heard me, & though it's quick, it's there nonetheless.
Read MoreFirst Official Trailer For Pixar's "Onward"
"Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney and Pixar’s Onward introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new original feature film is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae—the team behind Monsters University.” That's the synopsis for the first official trailer for Onward, releasing in theaters on March 6, 2020, & honestly I'm not really feeling this one. Great cast attached, but this doesn't really even feel like a Pixar film to me. It could be great. Judging by just the synopsis & trailer though, it's nothing I'm really excited for. While it looks cute, not only was I not intrigued, it failed in its many attempts to make me laugh. The only thing that really got me was the unicorn gag. I loved that. I just couldn't help but keep thinking this felt like it came out of another studio, like DreamWorks. Hopefully before this comes out I'll see something that gets me excited. What about y'all? I'm curious to see if this did anything for anyone else. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Second "Official" Trailer For "Toy Story 4"
Even though we've seen a lot of clips from Toy Story 4 so far, this one is calling itself the second Official Trailer for the upcoming Pixar film. After this I'm not sure where the main narrative of this film's going to be. As it seems to keep dancing back & forth between Forky & his rescue, & Woody's relationship with Bo Peep throughout the marketing. This look goes all in on the Forky angle, & if I'm being honest that seems to be the angle I've preferred more so far. Either way it looks hilarious nonetheless. Even though we've seen some of these scenes repeatedly they still made me chuckle. With me all out losing it at the "plush rush" scene. This outing is going to have some highly comedic content from what I've seen so far. Fingers crossed it holds up to the rest of the previous trilogy overall, but if everything we've seen is a hint I think we're safe on that. Very fun trailer though. I just hope it dosen't have a been there done that feel. The Forky rescue does seem like reused Story with new circumstances involved. Anyway, what did y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Special Look At New Song From "Aladdin", "Speechless"
This live action adaptation of Disney's Aladdin seems to really be putting a bigger emphasis on Princess Jasmine than its predecessor. Which makes a lot of since considering out of the two leads Naomi Scott has more acting under her belt. Add that with Jasmine being the obvious role to extend if you wanted to flesh out this story, & giving her her own song seems like a given. The song sounds great by the way from the small snippet we get. So now the only question to answer is the hardest. Will it naturally fit in the story? For me that's always the hardest part of music in a film. Having a scene that would never happen in real life fit in seamlessly. Obviously we don't just burst I to song to get our points across. Can't wait to find out how this fits, & I've only got days now to wait. So until then, based on this snippet, what do y'all think of this new addition? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Special Look At The Sets Of "Aladdin"
It's things like this that makes me want to be a part of movie production. Not to just go to all the exotic places, but to see the real life sets. Seeing the actual streets of Agrabah were built just blows my mind. A set so big they mention in this video you could almost get lost in it? I can't even imagine how awe inspiring this would be to walk around in. Since Star Wars & Indiana Jones, I've always been amazed by giant set pieces. I love we still do this in a world where we could just create them on computer. It not only adds realism to use this method along with CGI, as opposed to just one or the other. It also helps the actors in their performances to have real grounds to stand on. This gives me yet another live action Disney film that I can't wait to see some behind the scenes on. What do y'all think of these beautiful set pieces displayed in this video? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Not The Grandest Entrance With "Prince Ali" Clip
IGN released this clip of Aladdin's big entrance into Agrabah as Prince Ali, & it comes off more Prince Abooboo to quote Jafar. The best word to use really is boring. They're using all the same lyrics as the original, it just completely lacks the visuals & the energy. Strange way to go for the big introduction scene in my opinion. It's not horrible, but it's far from great. The only thing making my feel a little at ease is knowing the Genie only has two songs.
