We got a second trailer for Disney's upcoming October 18th sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, & it definitely didn’t cement the hope I got from the first. Where it does still look like we’re gonna get a much more evilesque Maleficent this time around, my biggest gripe from the first, we got the reason for this in this trailer. Which if I'm reading into correctly it looks like once again there's worse at hand. I have a feeling Michelle Pfeiffer is going to have a much more manipulative evil to her than we see in the trailer. Not to mention the scene after getting wounded where Maleficent is rescued, finding her lost people. Which is what this will them turn into next with Aurora in the middle. Or a facsimile of. Anyway, I’ll pass. I’m gonna see it anyway obviously. Curiosity and all. I’m just definitely not as pumped as I was at first. As it looks like we'll be getting some of the same out of this oneas we did its predecessor. What a waste of great casting. What did y'all think though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil" Shares First Teaser
I'll be honest, I'm not sure they could've released the greatest tease ever, & got me excited for this one. I've made no secret my distaste for the original Maleficent. I wanted a villain I never recieved. I will say this though, this teaser does seem like a step to righting the course. Even if I still feel the damage has already been done. I feel like if anything, this is going to show me the evil Maleficent I wanted from the jump, & just let me down that much more on what the original should have been. All the missed potential of a perfect casting choice used so wrong. Anyway, the official synopsis has Maleficent: Mistress of Evil as a fantasy adventure that picks up several years after the first, where audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora. Tbos one continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within. Directed by Joachim Rønning from a story Linda Woolverton and a screenplay the same along with Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster. The film will be produced by Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson with Matt Smith, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Michael Vieira serving as executive producers. Like I said before, personally I was let way too down by the first to he excited for this. What about y'all though? Is there anyone out there who's looking forward to this? Read MoreMaleficent 2 Has A New Title, Date, And Poster... Yay.
I've made no secret at all I have no love whatsoever for the live-action Maleficent. Loved Jolie's casting, absolutely hated everything they done with the film though. They turned Disney's most evil villain into, not even an anti-hero, but an actual misunderstood good guy. Couldn't stand it. So while this title gives me hope, I don't pit any weight on her ever taking up her actual dark persona as we seen in the original Sleeping Beauty. That all said cool title, cool poster, bit still just no hope for this one. It'll be titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Which just doesn't quite make since after they went way out of their way to take all the villainy out of this character. Smae thing goes for the poster. Looks all cool & dark, but once again I'll believe it when I see it. We will find out earlier than we thought we would as they moved it up to this year. October 18th to be exact. I would say fingers crossed, bit I'm just not looking forward to this one. How bout y'all? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Maleficent II" Has Begun Production.... yay.
Production has begun at Pinewood Studios and locations around the U.K. on Maleficent II, the sequel to 2014’s Maleficent. I've kept no secret my thoughts on the brilliantly casted abomination that was delivered to us in the first film. Totally stripping away any villainy from what was Disney's greatest villain. Possibly one of the greatest villains of all time. So there's no need to say I'm not excited at all to see this continuation. Nonetheless I will still give it the chance to change my mind as there must be someone out there who wants this thing. Angelina Jolie returns to reprise the title role, along with Elle Fanning reprising her role as the lovely Princess Aurora. Joining the two are Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith along Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, and Robert Lindsay. With Harris Dickinson joining the fray as the charming Prince Phillip. Directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue, & Noah Harpster, the film will be produced by Joe Roth and Angelina Jolie. With the production announcement came this brief synopsis: "This new fantasy-adventure continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon-to-be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within." Look, this movie has so much going for it. Things that would normally entice me. Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Disney, the perfect casting of Angelina Jolie. All these things can't make me look past how burned i'l felt by the first film. They had a chance to do something extraordinary, & give us a villain film. Instead we got the easy way out of misunderstood, & really a "good guy" villain. Does anyone even want this? Let me know in the comments, like & share.
Not Even The Addition Of Michelle Pfeiffer Can Get Me Excited About "Maleficent 2"
Michelle Pfeiffer has been one of my favorite actresses from the time I was able to recognize a favorite actress. So you know it's gotta be bad if THR announcing her her addition to Maleficent 2 still doesn't even have me the slightest bit interested. I loathed the first installment of this film. The perfect casting of Angelina Jolie in the title role had me so excited. Only to be crushed as they completely bastardized the story. Turning one of history's greatest film villains into another tired anti-hero. I still think they could've had a masterpiece on their hands if they would've just stuck to their own material. Anyway what's done has been done, & a sequel is coming whether I want it or not. Pfeiffer will play a queen, joining franchise newbie Ed Skrein, & returning Elle Fanning. Nothing's known of the plot, but I'm honestly expecting this one to go the route of Through the Looking Glass . Joachim Ronning will direct, which is a plus, with Joe Roth producing & Jez Butterworth & Linda Woolverton working the screenplay. So, yeah, I could totally do without this, how bout y'all? "Maleficent 2" Goes For Director Joachim Ronning
Everyone knows how I feel Maleficent, much less a sequel coming. I loved Angelina Jolie in the role, but I hated what was done with it. Stripping Maleficent of her evil nature & making her an anti-hero. So obviously, I didn't want a sequel. Casting that aside & focusing only on the news at hand I have to say I'm torn. All I know Joachim Ronning for was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which I really enjoyed. So that being said, while this gains some point for Maleficent 2, I would rather see him on something else I actually want to see. That's my thoughts on the choice though, what are yours?
