Michelle Pfeiffer has been one of my favorite actresses from the time I was able to recognize a favorite actress. So you know it's gotta be bad if THR announcing her her addition to Maleficent 2 still doesn't even have me the slightest bit interested. I loathed the first installment of this film. The perfect casting of Angelina Jolie in the title role had me so excited. Only to be crushed as they completely bastardized the story. Turning one of history's greatest film villains into another tired anti-hero. I still think they could've had a masterpiece on their hands if they would've just stuck to their own material. Anyway what's done has been done, & a sequel is coming whether I want it or not. Pfeiffer will play a queen, joining franchise newbie Ed Skrein, & returning Elle Fanning. Nothing's known of the plot, but I'm honestly expecting this one to go the route of Through the Looking Glass . Joachim Ronning will direct, which is a plus, with Joe Roth producing & Jez Butterworth & Linda Woolverton working the screenplay. So, yeah, I could totally do without this, how bout y'all? New Images & Details From "Christopher Robin"
I'm so excited for August 3rd's Christopher Robin. So obviously, I perked up when Entertainment Weekly put up these exclusive, new photos along with some new details for the upcoming return of Pooh. It's 1949 & Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is an efficiency manager for a luggage company. He's going to miss the vacation he has planned with his family due to providing resources to prevent a bunch of layoffs. Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) & their daughter Madeline (Bronte Carmichael) are headed to the Hundred Acre Wood, while Christopher is stuck working in London. Hence the visit from Pooh. McGregor says, "I think, largely, he’s just lost any of that childish wisdom and he’s a bit stuck. He’s just very work-minded and doesn’t have any time for play. I suppose that’s what the film is about: finding his relationship with his younger self again.” All in all, he's just trying to look out for all the families counting on him. Even if it means putting his own on the sidelines. Both in the war, Atwell added this, "This new man that returns from war represents the loss of the man that she married, but she sees him change when Pooh the bear comes back into his life. But, of course, she thinks he’s gone mad.” For that matter, so does he when Pooh (Jim Cummings), Tigger (Chris O’Dowd), Eeyore (Brad Garrett), Piglet (Nick Mohammed), and the rest of his childhood friends come to visit. Leading me to the best part of the whole thing. These characters aren't invisible, everyone else sees them. They just perceive them as stuffed animals. Making the bottom of the pic below thatuch funnier, Christopher is the only one who sees them "alive". That right there totally did it for me. Well that, & the adorable pic of Pooh & the gang at the beach. I'm all in now for this one. It has potential to be touching & completely hilarious. What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Funny Reveal For Live Action "Kim Possible" Cast
I can't speak for the upcoming live action reboot of Kim Possible , but if you were a fan a the original animated series you have to watch this. Original cast members Christy Carlson Ramano & Will Friedle have some fun "auditioning" to reprise their animated roles in the new film version. It was a hilariously fun way to introduce the new cast of Sadie Stanley & Sean Giambrone. I don't know Stanley but Giambrone is that hilarious kid from The Goldbergs . This was an awesome way to announce this y'all. I hope this winds up being just as great. What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
First Look At Creepy, Live Action "Dumbo"
So, we've known Tim Burton was directing next year's live action Dumbo . The cast is just as unique as that statement with Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Danny Devito, & Michael Keaton taking up the role of the villain. I feel like that last part needed a question mark. I still can't really get my head around a villain. The stranger this lineup got, I couldn't wait for them to finally address the elephant in the room. Yup, I went there. Anyway, the day has come WDW News Today just released this pic taken during a sneak peek at CinemaCon. Now before I go on, this is a sneak peek. There is a chance it still needs some touchup. Final effects may not be put in. This is also just a still shot. That said, look at that creepy, little, bastard. If I was terrified of elephants, it would be because I see them like that. He looks like he's plotting something evil. The pink elephant scene is going to be absolutely horrifying. In his defense, I thought Paddington looked pretty terrifying as well until I saw the movie. He just wasn't as creepy when brought to life. I hope this goes the same way. What do y'all think? Am I wrong? Cute? Creepy? The saddest thing is the more I look at him the cuter he gets. Still disturbing for some reason, but cuter. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Missing A Great Chance Disneynature Has "Penguins" Lined Up For Earth Day
Disneynature’s all-new feature film Penguins is described as a coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he's targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who threaten his happily ever after. From the filmmaking team behind Bears and Chimpanzee. I saw this yesterday, while spending my Earth Day dodging tornados. It's opening in theaters in time for Earth Day 2019, I can't help but think why? Penguins have multiple films now. I love those little ice birds. Probably more than any other species of bird, but March of the Penguins is even getting a sequel. At this point they have their spot in the limelight. More importantly, when you see the three animals involved, you realize Disneynature passed on Disneynature's Killer Whales . How cool would that have been? Orcas haven't shined since Free Willy . I'd even take Disneynature's Leopard Seals. Give is some excitement this time around. Either way, it's for a great cause. I'll be there regardless, & like I said, I do love penguins. Just think they missed a great chance. What do y'all think? Penguins, Killer Whales, or Leopard Seals? Put it in the comments, like, & share
Meet The New Faces Of "Incredibles 2"
Incredibles 2 is getting closer & closer every day. Picking up exactly where the first let off with the family very publicly being superheroes, which by the way is still illegal, the sequel features some new additions. Between EW & Chip & Co., we're finding out a lot about these new characters. First, we have the brother & sister crew of the Deavors. Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk) and his sister, Evelyn (Catherine Keener), run a massive telecommunications company, share a link to superheroes in their past, and believe they have the money, resources, and know-how to change public perception and help legalize Supers once again. They'll be putting all their money & resources on Elastigirl to be the photogenic face of the Super's return. For some reason I'm convinced one if these two will wind up being the bad guy of this film, but that's just me speculating. Below them there's concept art for some Superhero wannabes. These are the up & comers who want to join the Incredibles & Frozone in the comeback of crimefighters. Here's what we've got on them so far: Voyd is a young, overeager mega-fan of Elastigirl. Her superpower is the ability to divert and manipulate objects around her by creating a void that allows the objects to appear and disappear. She’s voiced by Sophia Bush. Brick is super tough with mega muscles and a fearless spirit that showcases her strong name. Reflux is a senior who has the unsettling superpower of heaving hot lava, which helps him break into some of the most secure locales. Krushauer has the power of telekinesis. He can crush a car without even laying a hand on it. Screech sports big owl-like eyes and a head that rotates 360 degrees. He can fly, thanks to a pair of wings he made to complete his look, but his real power is a high-pitched screech that can break glass. He-Lectrix can shoot lightning bolts from his fingertips. He’s high voltage, so it’s best to steer clear. So, basically with that lineup, the Incredibles will be joined by their version of the X-Men. I'm wondering how big of a part these guys are going to get? Voyd still sounds like the coolest one, but I'm betting Screech is going to be hilarious. He seems to have got a little screwed when powers were being handed out. Anyway, I know I can't wait to see more Supers take the stage for Incredibles 2 on June 15th, how about y'all? Live-Action "Mulan" Will Have A Villain Switch, Oh Also Jet Li & Gong Li!!!!
I learned yesterday that Donnie Yen scored a role in the upcoming live-action Mulan, but apparently that’s not the only thing that went down. Collider reported that according to THR, Jet Li and Gong Li are on board as well. Gong Li is set to play the villain. No, not that one, a powerful witch. Definitely a big change from the 1998 animated film. They've been saying that this will also follow the source material. Which, in all honesty, I know nothing about. A bold move for sure. Fans can be rabid, & the animated classic is loved by a lot of people. The addition of Jet Li is everything for me though. I've been a fan of Jet Li since his early films in Japan before the States even knew his name. This also doubles down on the whole martial arts epic thing. We've still gotta wait until March 27th, 2020. I'm sure there will be plenty of developments by then. Until that what do you think of the new additions to the cast? For that matter, what do you think of the villain toss up? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Trailer & Poster For "Incredibles 2" Doesn't Disappoint
So, yesterday this new poster came out for Incredibles 2 , announcing the new trailer release for today. The poster's great, it looks like it was designed as a comic book cover. Even giving us some small looks at some new characters. The real treat however, was this trailer. It was amazing, incredible even. I'm starting to think we might have one of those rare situations where the sequel winds up being better than it's predecessor. I throughly enjoyed this. Funny thing is, due to extensive comic reading, I think I know exactly how most of this will play out. I don't even care though. This could follow the exact path I have in my head, & it still looks like it has the potential to surpass the first & dominate this summer. Looks like we're gonna see some more Frozone this time around, & I'm really loving the reverse family dynamic. Like I said, this looks absolutely great, & I can't wait til June 15. What did y'all think of this newest trailer? Can the sequel wind up greater than the original? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
BAO Is Going To Melt Our Hearts With Cuteness
BAO, the short that will precede Disney*Pixar's highly anticipated sequel, Incredibles 2 has just released a small clip. Here it is via Comicbook.com, & I give you a small warning.. You may just have a fatal cuteness attack. This little dumpling come to life is friggin adorable. Compared to a Gingerbread Man story, I can't wait to see the rest of this short. I'm a really big fan of these beginning animated shorts. They've been a big thing for me since I was a kid. They died off with the great Roger Rabbit shorts, but this new resurgence over the past years has contained some incredible masterpieces of animated film. Can't wait for this one, & more to come. Are y'all taken away with this adorable little guy too? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Donnie Yen Joins Cast Of "Mulan"!!
If you noticed the exclamation marks in the title, you already have an idea of how excited I am about this. Disney's upcoming Mulan has been promised to be a martial arts epic, & adding Rogue One's Donnie Yen to play Comander Tung is definitely a step in the that direction. According to Variety, Yen has just been tapped to play the role opposite Liu Yifei in the live-action remake, as a mentor to Mulan. I absolutely love this guy, he was my favorite part of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story . I've honestly never been the biggest fan of Mulan , but the more I hear about this live-action version, it's becoming my most anticipated of the bunch. What do y'all think? Isn't this awesome?!? "Toy Story 4" Officially Has A Release Date
We now have a date to see whether or not Pixar can add another piece of perfection to the Toy Story franchise. It won't be until June 21st 2019 that we get to find out if the gang can reunite Woody & the lost Bo Peep. That's a little over a year, but at least it's not even close to how long we've all been waiting for Incredibles 2 . I just hope this is the same quality as its predecessors. That trilogy really is a piece of perfection, as I said earlier. It stands right up there with the original Star Wars trilogy & Back to the Future for me. I would hate to have an awesome trilogy that fades in its fourth installment a la Die Hard . There you go though, save the date. Will you be there on June 21st next year? Or has Toy Story had its run for you? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Edna Mode Leads Off New Trailer For "Incredibles 2"
The new trailer for Pixar's Incredibles 2 reuses some footage from the 2017 D23 Expo alongside some new Edna Mode moments from the upcoming sequel. She's in a battle for sole rights to the Incredible's superhero wardrobe, & I'm so hoping they build on this notion more. I loved this footage the first time around, & if I were Disney*Pixar I'd use it again too. The real life model approach is friggin hilarious. I k is it's going to be stuck in my head every time I see her in screen now. Anyway, really fun trailer, what do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, and share.
First Look At "Incredibles 2" Upcoming Short "Bao"
I want a living dumpling so bad. This thing in friggin adorable! In an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly we got our first look at Bao , the newest Disney*Pixar short that will open Incredibles 2 on June 15th, & it looks like it will be overflowing with cuteness. Director Domee Shi describes the seven and a half minute short as a "modern day fairy tale, kind of like a Chinese Gingerbread Man story." A Chinese-Canadian woman suffers from empty nest syndrome, finding joy in taking care of one of her handmade dumplings that comes alive. Said dumpling is so cute, I might question eating dumplings in the future. Only for a couple seconds though, because they're delicious. Y'all know I love my cartoon shorts. Obviously, I can't wait for this, & I already see so.e version of a stuffed dumpling being purchased in my future. What do y'all think? Excited for this cartoon short of cuteness overload? Put it in the, comments, like, & share.
Have You Seen The Trailer For Disney's "Frozen The Broadway Musical"?
This Frozen The Broadway Musical trailer was great. I was a little worried after I had heard these two songs that were released previously. Not that they're bad, I just didn't really think they were Frozen quality. They sounded like "sequel" songs from the 90s. Good, yet not rememberable really. That's just what I think though, you could love them. I just wasn't really feelin them on a Frozen level. Comparing the songs, I like Anna's True Love more than Elsa's Monster . The trailer is where they really shine though. The stage effects look amazing. All the freezing elements that light up, as well as the spikes that come from the ground. The set pieces are crazy cool. That fall though bridge is great. The real surprise is how much I dug the Olaf & especially the Sven puppets. If I could swing the cost, I would totally go see this. What about y'all? This live up to Frozen for ya or would you take a pass? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney's "Lady & The Tramp" Has Found A Director
Another thing I know happened while I was away was Disney's upcoming live-action/CG retelling of Lady & The Tramp has found its director in the form of The Lego Ninjago Movie director, Charlie Bean. Also, director & executive producer of TRON: Uprising , Charlie has had his hands in primarily animation. This could really be in his favor dealing with the many CG aspects if this film. That said, I also didn't hate The Lego Ninjago Movie as i kinda thought I was going to. It wasn't great, but it definitely had it's moments. I'm very curious as to see how this goes. We know this is one of the priority projects for Disney's upcoming streaming service marked to launch in Fall of 2019, which in a way gives it a pass as almost made for TV. I really can't wait to see the quality of these direct to streaming film's Disney has in mind. Other credits so far include being written by Andrew Bujalski, with Brigham Taylor producing. What do y'all think? Good choice? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney Announces "Beauty And The Beast In Concert" Coming To The Hollywood Bowl
Disney's having some really intriguing concerts at the Hollywood Bowl as of late. Not long ago it was the Muppets, now they've got my attention with Beauty and the Beast In Concert . A pity I'm on the wrong coast to get to this. I'd even check this out "pay per view" just to see Taye Diggs take a shot at playing Gaston. That's not the only unique casting choice either. Zooey Deschanel as Belle, Kelsey Grammar as Lumiere, Rebel Wilson as Lefou, Jane Krakowski as Mrs. Potts, & Anthony Evans as Beast? This thing just has strange casting all around. This kinda, actually makes me curious if they can pull it off? Beauty and the Beast is the gift that keeps on giving for Disney. So, for me it's cool to see them take chances. My big question though is, with a female Lefou, what will people complain about now? Anyway, it's May 25th & 26th if you're around that way. Wish I could be, record it for me. Meanwhile, what do y'all think of this cast? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Trailer For Disney's "Christopher Robin" Has Arrived
I was expecting a little announcement type tease like we got with Mary Poppins Returns on Sunday for Christopher Robin. Instead I got an actual teaser trailer. I've been excited for this film since I heard they had nabbed Ewan McGregor for Christopher Robin. This teaser was everything I was expecting. This is to Winnie the Pooh what Hook was to Peter Pan . In fact, Christopher looks to almost be in the same spot as Peter was in the beginning of that film. If I thought I got nostalgic for a look at Ms. Poppins, I went back to crib & diapers the second I heard Pooh. Coming soon, Christopher Robin is directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder and a story by Perry based on characters created by A.A. Milne. Produced by Brigham Taylor and Kristin Burr with Renée Wolfe and Jeremy Johns serving as executive producers, the film also stars Hayley Atwell as Christopher's wife Evelyn, Bronte Carmichael as his daughter Madeline, and Mark Gatiss as Keith Winslow, Robin’s boss. Voicing are favorite silly ol bear & crew will be Jim Cummings as Winnie the Pooh; Chris O’Dowd as Tigger; Brad Garrett as Eeyore; Toby Jones as Owl; Nick Mohammed as Piglet; Peter Capaldi as Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo as Kanga. I can't wait! Are y'all on board for Christopher Robin? What about this teaser? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Major Congrats To Pixar's "Coco" For It's Oscar Wins!
Congratulations to everyone involved in Pixar's Coco on it's Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Even though I feel a little of that glory was robbed by piss poor competition. I loved Coco , it's in my top 3 Pixar movies of all time. I'm taking nothing away from the win, it just feels like a landslide victory when you see what this already classic piece of animation was up against. Major props to Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez on also snagging the award for Best Original Song as well. Remember Me (Ernesto de la Cruz) is a masterpiece of a song. I fell in love with it from the first time I heard it, not even needing the context of the film. Once again, major congrats to all involved. Thank you for all that is Coco.
Disney Surprises With A Very Early Teaser For "Mary Poppins Returns"
I was not expecting this while watching the Academy Awards last night, & at first I was a little confused at the timing. I mean, this film doesn't release until Christmas. I'll be surprised if anyone remembers this by August's Christopher Robin. Then I realized who this was for, when I saw how surprised & excited my mom was. She had no idea Mary Poppins Returns was even going to be a thing. As big as Disney wants this to be, it makes a lot of sense to go ahead & put it in people's heads. That said, I enjoyed the hell out of this tease. I felt the same emotions I felt with "We're home" tease from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This short tease gives you a quick intro to the family, as well as your first look at Emma Blunt as Mary Poppins. Might I say, she looks practically perfect in every way. Anyway, this was a very unexpected surprise, & an amazing teaser or announcement trailer. So amazing that who knows? Maybe we will remember it by the time we start ramp up marketing closer to this film's release. What did y'all think? Did you get the nostalgic feels? Put it in the comments, like & share.
RIP David Ogden Stiers
David Ogden Stiers was lost to us to cancer over the weekend at the age of 75. He will be remembered to most for his role on M*A*S*H , but to me he'll always be for his voice roles in many Disney animated classics. Many of my favorite characters including, Cogsworth in Beauty & The Beast, the Arch-deacon in The Hunchback of Notre Dame , Governor Ratcliffe in Pocahontas, & Dr. Jumba in Lilo & Stitch . Those iconic roles are just a small piece of this man huge career that even saw him come back for the sequels. I always hate when we lose people, but try to take small comforts in knowing that they will always be immortalized in the characters they played. My condolences go out to all his friends & family.
