Disney just announced Monsters at Work, an animated spinoff for Disney+. John Goodman (Sulley) and Billy Crystal (Mike Wazowski) will return. A THR exclusive went further reporting they'll be joined original cast members John Ratzenberger (Yeti), Jennifer Tilly (Celia) and Bob Peterson (Roz). Along with some new blood Ben Feldman (Superstore), Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Henry Winkler (Barry), Lucas Neff (Raising Hope), Alanna Ubach (Coco), Stephen Stanton (Star Wars Resistance) and Aisha Tyler (Archer). The series picks up 6 months after the original film with the power plant now harvesting the laughter of children to fuel Monstropolis. It'll follows Tylor Tuskmon (Feldman), a mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team who dreams of working on the Laugh Floor alongside Mike and Sulley. Tran will voice Val Little, Tylor's lifelong friend. While Winkler takes on Fritz, the scatterbrained boss, Neff will voice Duncan, an opportunistic plumber, Ubach, Cutter, the officious rule follower, Stanton is Smitty and Needleman, a bumbling custodial team, & Tyler will bring to life Tylor's mom, Millie Tuskmon. The show will be produced by Disney Television Animation & developed & executive produced by Bobs Gannaway (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). With Ferrell Barron on board to produce & Kat Good and Rob Gibbs direct. Add this to the list of things I'm excited for coming to Disney+. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the original, I really liked the prequel, & I love the Laugh House at Magic Kingdom. Can't wait to see where they go with this. They must be onto something to get the whole cast back. Hopefully the animation style won't change. What do y'all think? Ready to visit Monstropolis again? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Read MoreTessa Thompson Going From Valkyrie To Lady
A Collider exclusive has Tessa Thompson in negotiations to play the title role in the live-action Lady & the Tramp . She'll be playing opposite Justin Theroux in a cast that's finally starting to fill out. They'll be joined by Benedict Wong of Doctor Strange playing Bull, an English bulldog, as well as Kiersey Clemmons as Darling, & Ashley Jensen voicing Jackie, a Scottish Terrier modeled after the animated original's Jock. Tessa Thompson is becoming an up an comer to really keep your eye on. She was great in Creed, & though I sold her short going in, I loved her in Thor: Ragnarok . I keep saying if they take this as serious as it looks like they're going to, it could really put Disney's streaming service on the map early on for 2019. Charlie Bean is directing a script by Andrew Bujalski, produced by Brigham Taylor. I saw this yesterday, but also saw Disney had no comment on either Thompson or Wong's casting. Saw it in a lot more places since, & Collider's pretty on point usually. So, while not set in stone, I'm gonna think this happening is a safe bet. Thompson seems like a great pick for anything though, & Wong is one of my favorite parts of Doctor Strange. I'm all for it. Anyway, what do y'all think of this casting? Justin Theroux Might Be The Tramp They Love
In a Collider exclusive from Jeff Snider, Justin Theroux is reportedly nearing a deal to fill the male part of title role of the live-action/CG hybrid remake of Lady and the Tramp. It's expected to debut on Disney’s upcoming streaming service once it launches in late 2019. I'm not going to lie here, I totally had to Google this guy. After that, I realized though he had been in some movies & shows I'd seen, I still couldn't place this guy at all. The only spot I could place him was as the master code breaker in The Last Jedi, & that was seconds. So, I can't speak on him, but the casting made me wonder. Obviously the dogs will be CGI, but what if they do the whole mocap thing? Mix it with the facial features of a dog? I'm 90-95 percent sure they won't go through all that. If anything to make the talking dogs seem more real. Anyway part of me thinks that would either be really cool to have talking dogs with some of the actors expressions. While the other part of me thinks that would come up completely terrifying. So, yeah, don't know why this casting made me think that. Can't wait to see this cast fill out more. If they don't treat this like the old straight to video poodoo, it could make the streaming service launch a must have for a lot of people. What do y'all think? Any insight on Justin Theroux for me? Disney's "Lady & The Tramp" Has Found A Director
Another thing I know happened while I was away was Disney's upcoming live-action/CG retelling of Lady & The Tramp has found its director in the form of The Lego Ninjago Movie director, Charlie Bean. Also, director & executive producer of TRON: Uprising , Charlie has had his hands in primarily animation. This could really be in his favor dealing with the many CG aspects if this film. That said, I also didn't hate The Lego Ninjago Movie as i kinda thought I was going to. It wasn't great, but it definitely had it's moments. I'm very curious as to see how this goes. We know this is one of the priority projects for Disney's upcoming streaming service marked to launch in Fall of 2019, which in a way gives it a pass as almost made for TV. I really can't wait to see the quality of these direct to streaming film's Disney has in mind. Other credits so far include being written by Andrew Bujalski, with Brigham Taylor producing. What do y'all think? Good choice? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"The Muppets" Are Coming To Disney's Streaming Service!
First & foremost, I love The Muppets . Not only have I always & will I always love them, I also am quick to let everyone know that The Muppet Show was not for kids. Kids could enjoy it, but I guarantee they can't appreciate the actual comedy behind it like grown-ups. Legendary puppeteer Frank Oz even confirmed as much on Twitter recently, saying it wasn't done for the kids, they just got it. That said, in an exclusive THR has reported sources telling them that The Muppets will be rebooted for Disney's upcoming streaming service. We tried this in 2016 on ABC with The Muppets. Resembling The Office , it just didn't resonate well with fans or critics alike. Cancelled after one season, I enjoyed it. It just felt like they were trying for something that just didn't fit with The Muppets . The lighthearted humor was replaced with a little too much modern cynicism to mesh. I'm sure they thought theyh needed an edge, but maybe they should've at least worked up to it. Anyway, this is one more small step to getting my money for a Disney streaming service, how bout y'all?
