First & foremost, I love The Muppets . Not only have I always & will I always love them, I also am quick to let everyone know that The Muppet Show was not for kids. Kids could enjoy it, but I guarantee they can't appreciate the actual comedy behind it like grown-ups. Legendary puppeteer Frank Oz even confirmed as much on Twitter recently, saying it wasn't done for the kids, they just got it. That said, in an exclusive THR has reported sources telling them that The Muppets will be rebooted for Disney's upcoming streaming service. We tried this in 2016 on ABC with The Muppets. Resembling The Office , it just didn't resonate well with fans or critics alike. Cancelled after one season, I enjoyed it. It just felt like they were trying for something that just didn't fit with The Muppets . The lighthearted humor was replaced with a little too much modern cynicism to mesh. I'm sure they thought theyh needed an edge, but maybe they should've at least worked up to it. Anyway, this is one more small step to getting my money for a Disney streaming service, how bout y'all? New "Muppet Babies" To Get An All-New Character & I'm Not Really A Fan
Not feelin' this one at all. I'm usually not one to totally poo-poo on a new character, but this doesn't even look like it's going to fit. Talk about stand out like a sore thumb. In an EW exclusive it was announced that Summer the penguin will be joining the nursery upon Muppet Babies return to Disney Junior in March. Apparently, Skeeter will not be a normal part of the new remake's cast so they wanted another female in the nursery. Summer will be voiced by Jessica DiCicco & is described as an "art girl" loving to draw, paint, & dance at the same time. The smallest character with the biggest heart. That's what really hurts the most for me. I love the synopsis of the character, but the look is so off for me. These are Muppet Babies, keyword being Muppet. This thing doesn't even look like it could be a Muppet. Love to know y'alls thoughts though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Not Sure What I Think About The New "Muppet Babies" Going Into Production
Jim Henson's Muppet Babies was my childhood. I remember waiting in front of the television hoping that they were going to play the Star Wars or Indiana Jones episodes. I loved them all but I still hold a special place in my heart for those episodes. This was the only show to really do Star Wars right. This (& Figment) fueled my imagination as a child, & I'm a better person today for it. Needless to say, when I heard Disney Junior was bringing this show back to life I was excited. Now however, Inside the Magic has brought it to my attention that production has begun with a quote form Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President, Original Programming & General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide. In it she had said, "Parents will delight in seeing their favorite Muppets in the mixed animation style they remember from the original series, & kids will be introduced to this warm & zany world made just right for the Disney Junior audience." That sounds great by itself, but the top of the article had mentioned a come-back in CGI-animation form. That seems more par for the course as of late when you consider that hand drawn animation is pretty much dead. It just also makes me have to reserve judgment until I see the finished product. Sometimes I'm not the biggest fan of CGI-animation, but I can forgive that if the show is really good like Star Wars: Rebels. Furthering that fear, they put up this picture with the article, confirming to me why I don't like this style. They come off kinda creepy. I don't know, like I said, full judgement will be withheld until I see the finished show. I'm still glad Muppet Babies is getting a chance to live again. What do y'all think though? First Appearance Of New Kermit The Frog Performer
I think the craziest part about this is as long as the character of Kermit has been with us this is only the third person to take the reins of the Muppets front-man, sorry, front-frog. This YouTube video marks the first for Matt Vogel who recently took over after the not-so-quiet split between Disney & Steve Whitmire. Whitmire haven taken over the role from creator Jim Henson after his passing in 1990. This looks like a less somber frog than we've been used to & might take the character back to more of his original, whimsical self. We won't know for sure until we see more. I'm sure we'll get a bigger taste at the Hollywood Bowl. Funniest little piece of irony for me in all this is the fact that Vogel is the voice for the evil Kermit-doppelganger Constantine. Meaning essentially, he has finally replaced Kermit in a way. He nefarious plan from the start coming to fruition. Anyway, what do y'all think of the changes? If I didn't know, in all honesty, I don't think I'd have noticed. Put it in the comments, like, share.
Full-Length Muppets Live Show Coming To Hollywood Bowl
I love me some Muppets, & if this thing was closer to me, you'd have to battle to keep me away. This thing sound awesome. The Muppets will be taking the Hollywood Bowl for a live performance. It's described as "the Muppets starring in a unique mix of inspired, chaotic, entertainment as never seen before, live & in-person, on stage at the legendary Hollywood Bowl." It will contain classic & new sketches, music, laughter, parody, dancing, & a fireworks finale. Basically, a all talent show featuring the Muppets. I feel as if I'm saying this a lot as of late, but I hope they stream this. It sound like an amazing event, & I'd hate to miss it just because it's too far for me to attend. If you're on the right coast & want to check it out it's only Sept 8-10th. What do y'all think though? Does this sound fun? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
