I'm officially super excited for Mary Poppins Returns after this trailer. They made sure to show you this has a little of everything you loved from the original. This gives a real look into what to expect from the upcoming sequel. It seems much in same ballpark as this year's Christopher Robin . As it looks like it's really going to deal with growing up, & forgetting what's important while lost in your grownup world. Which is also basically the original theme, totally forgetting your children while wrapped up in the complications of life. Mary Poppins pops in right when she's needed the most. With music, dancing, magic, & a little trip to an animated world. Writing all this brings me to my biggest 2 concerns. Are we just going through the motions of what has already been done? Just playing on nostalgia? And if not can Mary Poppins really return from 1964? Will this film work in 2018 with a mass audience? The first is the one that concerns me the most. This trailer looks more like a remake than a sequel. In fact, if you were to turn off the sound, I'd argue some would just think it was a remake. Putting that major concern aside though, I thought the trailer was amazing. Everyone looked perfect in their roles, the animation looked absolutely amazing, & it totally captured the spirit of the original Mary Poppins . There is a chance this just feels rehashed, but to judge just by this trailer alone, December 19th has a lot of potential to be great. I'm curious to hear what y'all think though? First Look At Lin-Manuel Miranda's Gizmoduck!!!
Gizmoduck was by far my favorite part of Ducktales. Everyday I'd hope he was in the episode I was eagerly awaiting to watch. Now those shoes, or wheels will be filled by Lin-Manuel Miranda of Moana & Hamilton fame. This first look is everything I was hoping for, & more. Now I'm just waiting for the return of Darkwing. Anyway, what do y'all think of the new Gizmoduck? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Is Lin-Manuel Miranda Disney's Drake?
Word on Collider Movie Talk from D23 on Sunday is Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton creator & Moana song co-writer, will be joining the great, Alan Menken composing the score for the live-action Little Mermaid. Now the craziest part about this news to me is this movie doesn't have a director, cast, or a release date as of now. Yet we know who's doing the music. I don't think I've ever heard of something like this. I've never heard of a movie announcing it's composer before it's director or cast, but this is a musical. So, I guess it's the perfect move considering that's the most important part. Disney's just locking this guy down though. With Moana, Mary Poppins, & now this. it really is like they're using the "put him on every track, "Drake Approach". After Moana though, could you blame them? Every song in that movie was not only on point, they had purpose & feeling. Passionately moving along the story at the same time. Teaming him with Alan Menkin though? Bravo! I can't wait to hear what this team gives us. What do y'all think about this awesome super power team-up? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Disney XD's New Ducktales Has It's Gizmoduck!
Blatherin Blatherskites!! I remember as a child actually getting disappointed if I didn't hear these words while watching DuckTales. This was the call to arms of Duckburg's resident superhero Gizmoduck, the secret alter ego of Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, Scrooge Mcduck's accountant. The Wrap reports however, that this time around he will spend his days as an intern for Scrooge's personal mad scientist Gyro Gearloose. This actually makes sense, as it probably makes for an easier transition, considering Gyro Gearloose was the original creator of the Gizmoduck suit in th first place. Disney has announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Broadway's Hamilton as well as a key in the creation of the soundtrack to Moana, will be voicing Duckburg's version of Robocop. He will be joining the already star-studded cast that includes, David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey) Bobby Moynihan (Louie) Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Toks Olagundoye (Miss Beakley) and Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack). They honestly could have annouced anyone in this role, and not to take anything away from Lin-Manuel Miranda, but I probably wouldn't have cared. The big news for me is the fact that Gizmoduck is included in the first place. DuckTales played a really big part in my childhood. So much so I've introduced my daughters to it via power of DVD, and they love it too. I not only hope they can do this justice, I hope it's so much so that Talespin & Rescue Ranger reboots are quick to follow. Is there anyone else out there as excited as I am about this new DuckTales? If so put your favorite character in the comments, like and share.
