Just around the corner now with a release date of May 2020, Marvel's upcoming Black Widow prequel has released a teaser trailer. The trailer was decent for what it was. It was basically a quick intro to the characters Natasha will meet back up with from her past. Enough to get me a little more intrigued than I was in the first place. Red Guardian seems to be one of the most interesting aspects for me. If they don’t make him a complete joke, he looks like he could be a lot of fun. For me this really hinges on the what & when. I can't pinpoint exactly when this actually takes place. Which will mean a lot, but really takes second place to the what. Because I'm not thinking the actual what of this film, but what it will have to do with the future of the MCU? Much like Captain Marvel, a good prequel has major effects on the now & beyond. I'm wondering what that will be with this? Something here should heavily influence the now & beyond. That's actually my biggest excitement from this film. Good character intro teaser though. Not much on substance, but it’s a teaser. I will say this though, they’re really going t ok have to come out the booth to make this a Marvel film, & not just another spy film. What are y'all's thoughts though? Put ‘em in the comments, like, & share.
Upcoming "Black Widow" Getting A Rewrite
In a Collider exclusive, The Hustle's Jac Shaeffer's original script for Black Widow is getting a rewrite. According to them Marvel has hired on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby writer, Ned Benson. Now some people get real nervous when scripts start getting rewrote, but this early in I'm kinda all for it. To me this means they're really trying to get the best final product they can, & they're taking it real seriously. Cate Shortland of Lore is tapped to direct with the great Kevin Feige producing as usual. The film's been reported to take place before the first Avengers film. For me, hopefully giving a sort of origin story to the character. In fact I'd love for it to tackle what made her such a bad ass, & tie it right into where she comes into contact with Fury & S.H.I.E.L.D.. We won't know until its release obviously, but that's at least what I'm hoping for. What about y'all? What do y'all want from a Black Widow standalone? For that matter, do y'all want a Black Widow standalone in the first place? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Black Widow" Solo Film Now Has A Director
Collider announced Cate Shortland beat out "approximately 75" other directors trying to nab the standalone Black Widow film. Featuring Scarlett Johansson leather clad, spy slash only non-powered Avenger out of 2. Now, nothing else is known about this film at all. Not even a date, but Collider thinks it a safe bet for 2020. It's also speculated it will be a prequel, exploring Widow's past. This is where I wanted to drop in my own two cents. The prequel idea would be cool, but I'm hoping they'll approach it from a past, off screen past, & now kinda thing. Where something post Avengers, follows through all of Avengers as we know offscreen, then affects wherever she is during this film we're speaking of now. That would be my perfect Black Widow film. Knowing Marvel Studios, it will at least live up to that, or completely blow it away. Anyway, anyone else have any ideas how to make a relevant Black Widow film? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
