Capcom Announces "The Disney Afternoon Collection"

Capcom released this awesome announcement trailer letting everyone know that my gaming childhood is all being combined in into one supergame multipack releasing on April 18 to PC, PS4, & Xbox One. I can't begin to fathom the hours, days, weeks, I lost to these games & I can't wait to get my hands on them again. Licensed games have caught a bad rap since the infamous E.T. for Atari, but most of the titles in this collection live up to their respected materials. Needless to say I'm definitely putting this date on my calendar.

First Coco Trailer from Pixar

The first trailer for Pixar's Coco went up today, & it looks like Pixar is about to knock another one out of the park. I was a bit reserved when this movie was announced as it sounds a lot like "The Book of Life". It's about a boy named Miguel (introducing Anthony Gonzalez) who dreams of playing music like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). Following some untold events he finds himself in the Land of the Dead on a journey to unlock the truth behind his family's history & their ban on music. However, after seeing this preview my reserves have been lifted. The Spanish Guitar soundtrack will almost bring tears to your eyes, while the final shot of the actual Land of the Dead is visually breathtaking. This has moved Coco up my list of anticipated movies drastically.

What's Going On with Dumbo?

This sure ain't your daddy's Dumbo. So, Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Danny DeVito is in talks to add to the live action retelling of Dumbo being directed by Tim Burton. Believe it or not that is not the strangest thing about this story. He will be playing Medici, running a small circus that gets taken over by the evil ringmaster of rival circus giant, Vandemere. If you're having trouble remembering all this from the animated classic, don't worry. You're not having your own case of the "pink elephants", it's just not there. So fingers crossed Dumbo will be a prominent feature in the movie that appears to be running beside him.

Aladdin Casting Call is Out

Is Disney bringing back the casting call? After what could only be considered a smashing success with the open casting of Moana, they're at it again. Collider Movie Talk reports THR confirms the studio has sent out a casting call for Middle Eastern actors ages 18-25 for Jasmine & Aladdin.

This is hopefully a sign of things to come. Sometimes it's easy to think Hollywood is a closed off place when you see that most actors seem to come from parents who are also themselves actors. These open casting calls put that thought to rest by giving everyone a chance. It also not only finds the best performers for the role, it puts more emphasis on the quality. Not knowing if that big name will be there to lean on.
