I think I'm letting my own expectations cloud my judgement on this one. Evangeline Lilly took to Twitter on what would have been the great Jack Kirby's 100th birthday & revealed the first look of the Wasp costume from Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man & the Wasp. I was not figuring this was just going to basically look almost exactly like the Ant-Man suit, just a girl version. I was looking for at the least, a color scheme change. This isn't like a total "screw this movie they destroyed everything" type thing. Hell, I remember when the X-Men just wore leather jumpsuits. So all in all, this doesn't really mean much, & if I wasn't expecting the change-up, it actually makes sense that these would look the same in real life. All the materials for a shrinking suit probably don't come in too many color arrangements. I don't like it, don't hate it, & either way it probably won't have an effect on my enjoyment of the film. What do y'all think though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Punisher Trailer Debuts With A Vengeance
It would've been real easy to let this one slip through the cracks with Defenders debut & all the Star Wars news goin on. Meanwhile though this vicious Marvel Punisher trailer for Netflix dropped. This looks like it's going to be everything I was hoping it would be. I loved the first Punisher movie & didn't hate the second film, War Zone. Hell, i didnt really even mind the campy Australian version. When Bernthall popped up as the character in the second season of Daredevil though, I knew we had never seen the role perfected until then. This trailer keeps that momentum going too. Looks as if we're going to get some of Frank Castle's tragic origin as well. I can't wait for this, probably even more so than the other upcoming Marvel/Netflix seasons. It won't be too much longer either, we're running out of 2017 fast. What do y'all think though? Best Punisher ever? Still need more to figure it out? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Thor: Ragnarok" International Trailer Shows Return Of Doctor Strange
Looks like we might get an extension upon the after-credits scene from Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme will be making an appearance in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok as seen in the newest International Trailer. That's about the only new footage added with some extended pieces to previous scenes in there. I still can't get ahold of the fact that we're in a world where not only do we have all these comic-book movies, but they all crossover just like in the pages. That is just friggin' amazing to me. I never thought I would see the day. Much less would it be the most popular thing going. If you've seen the after credits scene to Doctor Strange you know this only makes sense as it has to do with the whole "Odin's missing" angle of the upcoming film. I'm starting to figure that whole scene will make it into this movie, much like the after credits of Ant-Man where Cap & Falcon discuss what to do with Bucky. A scene that was actually in the next film, Civil War. Bravo keep the crossovers coming. What do y'all think though? Especially the non-comic fans, just into the movies. Are the crossovers too much? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Featurette Lays Out The Foundation For Marvel's The Defenders Coming To Netflix This Weekend
Did anyone else miss this featurette? It's not much new in the way of previews, but it gives some time with each of the actors. We couldn't be any closer to Marvel's The Defenders, with all episodes to drop on Netflix August 18, 2017, & Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), & Finn Jones (Iron Fist) sit down in this featurette & shed some light as to where each of their characters stand coming into them. Murdock is no longer Daredevil after his second season. He becomes Jessica Jones lawyer; she's done some bad things if you don't recall. Luke Cage is getting out of prison from finishing his sentence. Which leaves Danny Rand who is just doing his Danny Rand thing whatever it may be. It actually looks like him & Cage bump into each other by coincidence. Anyway, we'll know for sure soon. The all wind up hunting what is most likely the Hand's cover-up, Midland Circle. This is where not only Sigourney Weaver, but the newly resurrected Elektra comes in. These series so far have almost done the villains better than the heroes. They have not only gave us the best incantation of the anti-hero Punisher, they've made Purple Man, Cottonmouth, & the now iconic Kingpin some of the most interesting villains in the whole Marvel Universe. I only say this because I'm curious as to where Sigourney Weaver will land in the mix. She is such an iconic actress, I don't think I've ever really seen her do something that looks this cold. Check this featurette out though for a nice setup. Let us know what you think in the comments, like, & share.
Nick Fury Not In Avengers 3 or Avengers 4
Speaking in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK for his upcoming film The Hitman's Bodyguard, Samuel L. Jackson let it be known Nick Fury will not be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War or the yet to be titled Avengers 4. This is a very puzzling move to me as they've said these films are to be the culmination of the 22 Marvel films up to that date. If that's the case, I really feel like the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. should be a part of it. If you recall when this was all getting put together "The Avengers Initiative" was all Nick Fury's thing. If anything he's the glue that binds the Avengers team together. I just felt like since this all started with him, it would be appropriate for it to end with him there as well. For that matter I still want to no where Fury stands on the events of Captain America: Civil War, & the whole "Sokovia Accords" thing. This news troubles me, & in the immortal words of that horse from Ren & Stimpy, "No sir, I don't like it." What do y'all think though? Major loss for the Avengers? New Writer On Board For Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel isn't set to be coming to us until March 8, 2019. Starring Brie Larson & to be directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, the film's script, was originally to be written by Meg LeFauve & Nicole Perlman. In a Deadline exclusive however, Geneva Robertson-Dworet will be taking over that responsibility, with LeFauve dropping out do to direct the Disney Animation pic Gigantic with Nathan Greno. The article says "take over & write". Which is a little fuzzy to me on whether this is a page one rewrite or if she's got something to work with already. From what I can gather we've really never seen anything from Robertson-Dworet. Her credits do include the upcoming Tomb Raider for MGM & Suicide Squad spin-off Gotham City Sirens for WB. Not sure how I feel about this as I don't have any work to base this off of. Only time will tell I guess. This one is placed in a very crucial spot for the future of the MCU. I'm all for new talent, I just hope this is the right spot to take the chance. Let me know what y'all think in the comments, like, & share.
The Best Part Of Jessica Jones Is Coming Back
Jessica Jones is without a doubt, my least favorite of the solo outings so far for Marvel's Defenders on Netflix. That being said however, I think it had one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe in the Purple Man. So obviously I'm excited at EW's official announcement that David Tennant will be returning to the role when the series returns next year for season 2. Details are under wraps, & if you've seen the first season (SPOILERS) you know he doesn't have the best day ever when it comes to the last episode. This puts us in a Kingsman type situation. He was the best part so obviously you want to bring him back, but how do you do so post-mortem? I'm expecting a run of flashbacks. There's no telling what else Jessica was made to do while under his powers. No matter how they try to pull this off, it's a welcome addition. What do y'all think of this development? For that matter, where do you stand on Jessica Jones altogether? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Production Starts On Fourth Avengers, Or The Purple Glove
The Russo's took to Instagram to announce production on the fourth Avengers film. They posted this picture with the words "Beginning the end." Still untitled, this has been told to be the movie that sums up the 22 films at that point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So the words pretty much just convey that notion. The real question is the significance of this picture? The web has ran wild with it & speculation points mainly to Kang the Conqueror. I have to say considering the context this makes a lot of sense. What better way to end the 22 film arc than with a time-traveling villain. Add that too the newest announcement of the shape-shifting Skrulls being introduced via Captain Marvel in the past, pre-Iron Man, & we've all the sudden got many directions to go for the future of the MCU. I'm not sure how the movie going audience will take stories like these if that's the way we are going. Being a comic fan though, I can attest to these being the stories that have fueled Marvel. I'm excited about all these different directions being introduced. What about y'all? Any ideas to whom this ominous purple glove may belong to? Any feelings on the introduction of the time-traveling Kang? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Guardians' Inferno" Music Video Is Bringing Disco Back, & It's Great
This is one of those time that I miss MTV's old format. It's the best way I can think of to get this thing seen my the most people. Michael Rooker & Dave Batista had me rolling in their disco garb. This Sneepers video ft. David Hasselhoff might just be the greatest use of the Hoff ever for me. I emphatically love both the soundtracks to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 & 2. This song stood out from the rest of the Vol 2 soundtrack like a sore thumb, & at first I wasn't sure about it. After a couple listens though, it not only fit right in, I started to really like it. This video though? It had me smiling from beginning to end. Make sure to check it out. Let me know what you think about it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel Released A Synopsis & New Logo Art For "Ant-Man & the Wasp"
"In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man (Rudd) is left facing the consequences of his actions as both a superhero and a father. When he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission, Scott must once again put on his Ant-Man suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp. As the team works together, they’ll uncover secrets from their past." That's the synopsis that was released with this new title art for Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man & the Wasp. This is a little more vague of a synopsis than I thought we would get. Especially considering they already announced Michelle Pfeiffer as the lost Janet van Dyne. As for the new logo... meh. I don't know, it just don't have that MCU feel to it at first glance. If it wasn't for the little bit of added texture if you zoom in, it feels like the logo you would use for an animated version. I don't hate it. I just think it could look a little better. What do y'all think? New Logo? Synopsis? Put it down in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Adds J.R. Ramirez For Season 2
In an EW exclusive "Jessica Jones" has added Power & Arrow actor J.R. Ramirez to season 2 as Oscar. A single father & new superintendent to the building, his son becomes infatuated with Jessica. Meanwhile Oscar keeps his distance to avoid the trouble that follows Ms. Jones. I'm going to be honest, I watch Arrow & I had to look up who this guy was. When I found that he was Ted Grant, the guy who trained Dinah Laurel Lance, I at least remembered him. Not sure that's such a great sign, but at least I don't remember him negatively. It was a small part, so I get why I don't remember him. This is all scheduled for Netflix sometime in 2018, & I just hope this is more consistent than Season 1. The episodes I liked were great, but some of them just seemed to drag along. This time she won't have David Tennant to keep things interesting. Anyone think anyway about this news? Speak down in the comments, like, & share.
Before Round 1 Even Starts, Thanos Is Signed On For A Rematch?
Collider reports Josh Brolin has confirmed via his Instagram, he was about to begin filming on the untitled Avengers 4. Meaning we now officially know Thanos does not die in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. I feel like I've been trying to repeat that sentence to myself all day long. Who thought this made sense to let out? The Russo's have already crushed the rumors of Avenger 3 & 4 being a two-part series, saying 4 would be a entirely differentmovie, so this can only mean a so many things. There's the highly unlikely chance Thanos becomes a Loki-type, keep around because we need him kinda thing, the chance Thanos "wins" the first film, Thanos comes back for the rematch of the century, or "big surprise", Avengers 3 & 4 are a two-part series. I would accept any of these, as long as they're done right. Well except the first one, that would mean Thanos in a cell & I just can't really wrap my head around the notion. This is just a strange thing to announce if they're really trying to get away from this being two parts. That being said, I'm predicting a cliffhanger ending for Infinity War. With Skrulls on the table thanks to the details released at D23 from Captain Marvel, there's really no telling what to expect for Avengers 4. What do y'all think? Cliffhanger? Let's talk about it in the comments, like, & share.
"Captain Marvel" Details Released At SDCC 2017
I've been very curious about this film. Mainly because of it's placement in the MCU lineup falling right in-between two Avengers movies. Considering this is most likely our first time with Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), unless she makes an appearance in Infinity War. Coupled with the fact that a lot of people still get this character confused with DC Comic's Shazam, who's original name was Captain Marvel for a long time. This seemed like a strange place to start, but thanks to Collider coming form San Diego Comic Con, I finally understand how this can happen. They report that 2019's Captain Marvel will take place in the 90's. That's right, this will be pre-Iron Man. Meaning as long as they play their cards right, they can get away with a lot, as a lot hasn't even happened yet. In fact, we get to see a two-eyed Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Yup, it seems Fury lost his eye sometime between the 90's & Iron Man's debut. This is all amazing, I love the 90's!! I can't wait to see the throwbacks they're going to throw at us. Not to mention how awesome the soundtrack's gonna be. That's not all though, what's a hero without a villain? We get one of the most notorious villains of all Marvel Comics, the Skrulls. A shapeshifting alien race that's been around for a long time. My mind is already going into overtime on the possible implications of this. In the comics the Skrulls started replacing a lot of people, heroes as well, in secret. This taking place in the 90's, I begin to winder if everything we've seen is all the sudden at all, what we think it is. With this addition, we can't really be sure who's who. Just a thought. So, what do y'all think? Think it's a good chance this could shake up the whole MCU as we know it? Let me know in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "Ant-Man & The Wasp" Cast Added Some Heavy Hitters
Ant-Man & the Wasp just added some amazing talent to the upcoming sequel, starting with a childhood crush of mine, Michelle Pfeiffer. Stepping back into the world of comics, (Catwoman in Batman Returns) she's signed on a Janet van Dyne, mother to Hope (Evangeline Lilly) that shrunk down to a subatomic level, never to be seen. This happened while wearing the first incarnation of the Wasp suit Hope will be seen in. Michelle Pfeiffer is amazing & I can't wait to see her in any part, in anything. Also added was Hannah John-Kamen playing Ghost. This is a villain/anti-hero who if I'm correct, is a thief that can turn intangible, & usually uses this to steal company secrets & tech. In addition to this they also added Laurence (Larry) Fishburne. That's right Cowboy Curtis (look it up) will be joining the cast as Black Goliath, a biochemist that works with Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) & can grow to giant size. Much like we saw from Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) in Captain America: Civil War. This was all in addition to other recent cast announcements, shaping up to be one heck of a cast. What do y'all think? Do these additions tickle your fancy? Did you have different things in mind? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
New "Thor: Ragnarok Trailer" Is Definitely Worthy
First & foremost I have to mention I loved the first Thor. I liked the second, not one of my favorite Marvel movies, but I still enjoy it nonetheless. However, once again, I loved the first Thor. To me it was one of the first of Marvel's superhero movies to start this rend of not feeling like a superhero movie. It seemed accessible to fans of movies that before that time still kinda scoffed at comic book movies. I'm sidetracking to much though. This is about this mighty trailer. This is everything I could have possibly wanted to see that I hadn't already seen in the first trailer. They've mentioned this as a sort of "buddy adventure" & the conversation between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) & Banner (Mark Ruffalo) about their fight is definitely evidence of that. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) looks absolutely amazing as usual. The comedic tone in this thing is so on point. Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster is a perfect match to be the brother of Benicio Del Toro's Collector. Cate Blanchett's Hela refers to herself as the goddess of death so many times, it almost confirms the rumors that she will be "Death" for the MCU. "Death" being the objective of Thanos, as that's where his affections lie. Back to the trailer though, we also get to see new addition Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) in action. We're looking at some rather epic battles this time around. And if you're not sold on this one yet, Hulk talks. That's right Hulk can say more than just Smash now. November 3rd just started seeming further away. I can't stop without mentioning that awesome poster down below. That's art. In a world where wejust photoshop some floating heads around a title, this is amazing. I would totally hang this on my wall. That's probably one of the best things I can say about a movie poster. Anyway, what di y'all think? Both of the trailer & the poster? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "The Defenders" Gets Second Trailer
I'm not one to usually want to give up time. Time is a precious thing. After this trailer though, what's a little less than a month? I totally want to fast-forward to August 18th so I can park myself in front of a TV & not get up until this is over. Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), & the Immortal Iron Fist (Finn Jones) team up "Avengers" style to take down the infamous "Hand" organization. Putting them at odds with Alexandria (Sigourney Weaver), a new addition & one of the things I'm looking most forward to about this 8-part series. I've been a fan of Weaver since I was a child, & that opening line about both sides of a war having to think they're the good guys is the main thing I always want in a villain. There's two villains that make really good stories. One that's just flat out evil incarnate, & then there's the one that thinks they're essentially doing the right thing. The latter of the two always seems to be the one that stands a better chance, & make the most terrifying antagonists. In addition to the heroes & main baddie, you get to see a little taste of lots of side characters. I noticed the return of Elektra (Elodie Young), Foggy (Elden Henson), Claire (Rosario Dawson), Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho), Stick (Scott Glenn), & Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick). That's just on the first couple times through, I wouldn't doubt it if others are in there as well. This trailer has me pumped though. I'm definitely more excited for this than I have been any of these Marvel Netflix releases to date. What do you think? Does this trailer have yo as pumped as I am? Let me know in the comments, like, & share.
Retro Announcement For "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2" Blu-Ray Release Is Hilarious
I'm going to show my age a little with this one, but I totally remember these commercials. Every other commercial was trying to sell some sort of greatest hits collection. This take on it just seems like the natural fit for the movie that brought back the cassette mix-tape. I'm a little bummed to notice that I did not see a 3-D release for this movie. The 3-D in it was truly amazing at times & I was hoping to get a better look at it on the home release. The music video with the Hoff has me excited to even pour through the bonus features of this thing when I get it. Anyway, watch the commercial, take a trip down memory lane, & let me know what you think. Write it in the comments, like, & share.
New Inhumans Trailer Still Doesn't Leave Much Hope
I want to start this by saying I really, really want this to be good. Hell, I want it to be great. These trailers are not giving that much hope though. This one is a lot better than the last, but it's still not good. For everything you see that makes you feel a little better about this going in, you see just as much that makes you want to run away as fast as possible. Some of the effects look better than the last time around. Then, you get to the first shots of Medusa using her hair. All I could do was shake my head. They keep pumping this IMAX thing through the whole trailer, & I hope they realize they are just giving us a bigger canvas to tear apart their art. The acting looks high school play quality at times. I just don't know if this thing stands a chance. This thing just needs a proper budget. It's a lot to try to pull off on a television show budget. Even if it is a huge television show budget, these are actual super-powered heroes on a major scale. I keep thinking this might should've held off for the proper big-screen adaptation. Here's to hoping I'm wrong. I hope Sept 1st this thing blows me away at Imax. Until then what, do y'all think? Let me know down in the comments, like, & share.
Really Brief First Look At The Punisher
This Defenders featurette released yesterday to immediately being basically labeled as The Punisher trailer. Needless to say, I was a little let down because of that. Not because it's a bad featurette. Quite the opposite, I thought this was really put together well. I was let down in the fact that after hearing all this Punisher hype I was expecting more than a three second line after the feature's conclusion. I've been super excited for this after Frank Castle's first appearances in Daredevil season 2. This is our best portrayal of the character yet, & I can't wait to see his own series. I'm hoping it's as uncut/unfiltered as I think it's going to be. Gotta say I wanted a little more of a teaser for Punisher than this. I will put this out there though. Does anyone else suspect that this teaser isn't as much for The Punisher series as it is a hint the we might be seeing mister Castle pop up in the upcoming Defenders? A little food for thought. I wouldn't put it past them. Anyway what do you think? Did you like this featurette? Did you want more Punisher? Do you think we'll see him in The Defenders? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "Ant-Man & The Wasp" Picks Up Walton Goggins
According to Deadline Walton Goggins has joined the cast that already includes returning Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, & Michael Pena, along with newcomers Hannah John-Kamen & Randall Park. If you don't know who this is I wouldn't blame you. I eventually found I knew who he was, but not until I had seen him. Wiki has him as most being known for his TV roles as Shane Vendrell in The Shield & Boyd Crowder in Justified. I myself know him best as transgender prostitute, Venus Van Damme from Sons of Anarchy. A part that went from almost a joke to an actual powerful part of the show. This cast is shaping up real well though. I can't wait to some of this movie on our course to July 6, 2018 when it hits theater. Any thoughts on this addition? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
