This pretty much conveys the humor that is displayed throughout Thor: Ragnarok. I've told many while I'm not going to join in & say this is Marvel's best film, I have to say you will be hard-pressed to find a Marvel film that is this enjoyable to watch. I've gave my first thoughts on video & then wrote a more thought out review, but it's even easier to say, this video conveys the spirit of this movie. If you want to know the tone of this film, the conversation with the rock guy pretty much sums it up. While still serving some shock here & there, this movie is all about the funny. I digress though, this is about Mjolnir's proper sendoff. I must say, you will never see a better memorial for a hammer than this. Mjolnir you will always have a place in our hearts. Can Marvel Really Bring Back Together The Whole Roster? Talks With Fox?
I will not be the naysayer this time around. When talks were tossed around last time, I said there's no way Sony will come off there little piece of guaranteed box office returns, Spider-Man. Then the studio started hurting & next thing you know there's this joint deal with Marvel & Sony throwing Spidey into the MCU. Now CNBC reports that 21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney. This won't include Fox sports & media outlets. This scaling down to sports & media gives 21st Century Fox a better way to compete in the current media environment. These talks have taken place over the last few weeks. Off right now, but seem to be in an on again, off again situation. No talk of price or how far the talks actually are, but it looks like a potential deal would include the movie studio, TV production, Star, Sky, & entertainment networks such as FX & National Geographic. That's a pretty awesome package. Why's a Disney deal in the Marvel news discussion spot though? Because I can't help but think of the REAL ramifications of this deal. This puts the whole damn Marvel catalog together at Marvel Studios. This will bring home the X-Men & the Fantastic Four, but even more so the giant who's who of villains that come along with them. That's an exciting notion, that will further destroy the odds of newcomers eventually finding a spot to come into the Marvel Universe. Start watching all the films now, because if this happens this thing is going to start growing like a wildfire. The possibilities are endless, & Marvel Studios will do them right. I can't wait to hear more on these talks. This is big! What do y'all think? Does the thought of Marvel getting their whole playground excite you? Or do you think this will be too much to manage? Avengers: Infinity War Finds Lead Character In.... Thanos?
With May's Avengers: Infinity War seeming to be getting here faster as it's gets closer, actual plot details for what to expect have been slim. Now we might have more of a clear picture as to where this is going. According to Collider, co-director Anthony Russo has now revealed that not only will Thanos (Josh Brolin) himself act like the "lead" of this film, but the story will also have the tone of a heist film with him hunting down the Infinity Stones. I heard this yesterday right after my first thoughts on Thor: Ragnarok , see that here. So, I was already pretty pumped. After hearing this though? I'm now more excited about this than I've been for any Marvel movie save The Avengers. First, I love heist movies. They are probably one of my favorite genres of movie. It's entertaining to see people pull off the impossible. More so, wouldn't it be awesome to watch an evil, super-powered Ocean's 11? Now second, & not really it should be first, Marvel has gave us nothing really when it comes to Thanos. We know all the Avengers & they can throw us more, but it just makes sense for this film to focus on Thanos, the unknown. They've been selling him to us as the villain of all villains. It pleases me to no end that it's sounding like now they're going to take the time to back up that sell. What do y'all think though? Heist film? Thanos lead? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Taika Waititi of "Thor: Ragnarok" Just Moved Up My List Of Directors & I Haven't Even Seen The Film Yet
"So we failed miserably & had a funny first 10 minutes & then a super-boring rest of the movie. But that's luckily why you have such a long time in post-production, because you can test all these things out & get the very best film that you can." That was a quote from one of the most truthful Directors I've ever heard, Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok, speaking to CBR as reported by ScreenRant. Now this happens all the time. A lot of your big budget movies are mainly put together in post-production, but nobody ever admits it. This guy basically told you straight up that his first run at this was total crap until he toyed around with it, giving us this film, that so far is getting really good reviews. I've got a couple days myself until what I'm calling "Thorsday", & this little bit of truth has actually bolstered my excitement even more. Waititi is awesome for just laying it out there, the way it went down, with no spin. I'd rather hear about how you got there more than what you got any day. That's why some of the greatest films have almost even more interesting behind the scenes stories. It takes a certain type of Director to go back & truthfully let you know how they got from A to Z, along with all the "eraser marks" to go along. Like I said though, something like this just makes me want to see this film even more. What do y'all think of this unorthodox bit of truth from Waititi? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Are You Not Excited For Marvel's Runaways Yet? Have You Seen This Trailer?
Marvel's Runaways is set to hit HULU on November 21st, & I can't wait after this preview. Here you get a small taste of the groups power set, & holy crap someone is going to turn into a dinosaur! I'm so in for this show, I wouldn't be surprised if I watched the whole thing in a couple days. Watch out Netflix, because this show looks all kind of awesome without the grittiness of the Netflix lineup. Not that that's a good or bad thing, I love the Netflix shows, but I'm betting this will open up the series to a wider array of younger fans. Anyway, I can't wait for this show to start. If you're on the other side of that coin, watch this preview & then let me know what you think. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's The Punisher Is Going To Show How To Reboot An Origin
This is how you retell an origin story that's already been told a couple times. The new preview for Marvel's The Punisher airing in full November 17th on Netflix gives us a quick look at Frank Castle's revamped beginnings. I've always thought when it comes to origin stories as long as you keep the basic essentials you can change the rest however suits your story. This is a great example of that mind-frame. Keep the essentials, Daredevil's blinding, Spider-Man's Spider-bite, Frank's family, these all have to happen. How they happen, the details, can be changed up though, & not effect the core essence of the story. Once again though, this trailer delivers. This looks like it's going to be the best Netflix has gave us so far. What do y'all think though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Black Panther" Trailer Showcases Wakanda
This trailer gave me exactly what I've been wanting from Black Panther. What's that? Wakanda. To me Wakanda is probably the most interesting aspect of Black Panther. It's just such an amazing concept. A technological wonder of a nation hidden off from the rest of the world in the wild landscape of Africa. That's the real star of the film for me. Wakanda is the only source for vibranium in the world, making it's seclusion necessary. All the technology is derived from the use of the vibranium. That's not the only thing I got from this trailer though. It could just be this trailer, but this movie comes off on a little more of an epic scale than your average stand-alone Marvel flick. February 16th is awhile to wait, I hope they don't over-trailer this thing up to that point. This is definitely a must-see though. Awesome trailer. What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
More Hulk To Come!!
Ever since Mark Ruffalo picked up the character of the Incredible Hulk in the first Avengers people have been clamoring for a stand alone for the angry green giant. However, there are some issues that haven't been resolved between Marvel Studios & Universal, who I think have the rights to distribution. Now however it seems that a loophole of sorts might have been found. Mark Ruffalo teased with Cinemablend that the Hulk will have his own storyline of sorts running through Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, & Avengers 4. This seem like the logical course of action, & I thinks it's awesome. I can't help to question the business behind it though? What if this raises the "stock" on Hulk even more making it even harder to get the rights back. No matter how they play it this is the inevitable endgame. All in all that's on the studios though. Seems like we get to reap the rewards no matter. What do y'all think of the incredible news though? More so would you like to see more characters featured this way? Put it in the comments, like, & share. Oh yeah, here's the newest TV spot for Thor: Ragnarok while you're at it.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Has Announced Date For Season 5 & My Reception So Far
Me & Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have a strange relationship. I don't hate it, every now & then I really like it, & a few times, I've loved it. Season 5 will be coming at us December 1st & it's picking up where season 4 left off. This has a (SPOILER), but if you still haven't watched season 4, I doubt you're going to give a damn about season 5 even if I tell you it picks up in space. Anyway, it picks up in space. Which they let it be known at NYCC (with a showing of the first 20 minutes to the luck attendees) that the Kree will be returning this time which I'm kind hoping will put the show back on it's original track. I liked the first season as it basically was used in the background to set up Hydra taking over S.H.I.E.L.D.. I thought using the show to get further inside the movies was cool. The second involved the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D. trying to get at HYDRA with the Coulson also dealing with the Kree blood that brought him back to life & the emergence of super-powered Inhumans. The third season is where I almost lost interest. Coulson started to build a covert team of Inhumans. Meanwhile, Hydra was looking for an ancient Inhuman leader Hive. For me that one just kept getting worse. Season 4 featured Ghost Rider, which I thought was going to be a train wreck. In a way it was. It proved they could've done a really bad ass Ghost Rider series. Instead we got Ghost Rider thrown into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with them almost taking a back seat. This all some how ended off with the emphasis on a LMD, or Life Model Decoy. This all made for a strange season for me. I watched it, & I didn't hate. It was enjoyable, it just felt clustered all together weird. To finish the strangeness, the long season was ended with the LMDs hooking everyone up to a "Matrix" like place that was taken over by Hydra. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed that part of the season. Even if it was a really eccentric road to get there. How do you end a crazy ride like that you ask? Cliffhanger, Coulson wakes up in space. With the strong end to that season I'm definitely still on board. I would really love a little more of the movie universe pop in again. Even if it's just in the far background, I might even take some cameos from the Netflix cast if possible. Anyway, what do y'all think of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Put it in the comments, like, & share. Oh, & while you're at it check out this Season 4 Blooper Real Marvel put up:
Thor: Ragnarok Featurette Is Leading Me To Believe Hela May Be One Of The Best Marvel Villains Since Loki
I'm not as hard as most on the Marvel villains we have had so far. In fact, I have probably enjoyed more of them than I have thought have been misused. However, as I was watching this featurette for Thor: Ragnarok, I realized that Hela might actually be on par with Loki. Loki obviously being the fan favorite villain so far hands down. I mean, first off it's Cate friggin' Blanchett. She's played royalty before, nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth. And Hela is nothing if not royalty. It's kinda ironic that the character of Hela is basically what would happen if you take Queen Elizabeth & cross her with Galadriel, Blanchett's character from the Lord of the Rings & Hobbit films. Check this out though. I'm even more pumped for this one, like I've mentioned I've already got my tickets. What do y'all think though? Rushing out for Thor: Ragnarok? Any thoughts on Hela going in? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "RUNAWAYS" Gets A Teaser Trailer!!
I'm didn't know how much I was anticipating November 16th until I saw this teaser trailer. Hulu looks like it's prepared to give Netflix a run for it's money with this spot for their upcoming Runaways. This will be based on Marvel's story about a group of kids who find out their parents are in a supervillain cult. Awesome premise. I've read some of it myself, & went on to follow some of the characters further on in their lives. A part of me is wondering if I'm only this excited from this trailer for the few things I do know about some of the characters, because it's definitely a teaser. I can't wait to see this though. I really am intrigued as to what y'all think? Especially those who know nothing of the source material. Does this look intriguing to you? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Iron Fist Will Appear In Season 2 Of Marvel's "Luke Cage"
Season 2 of Luke Cage is right around the corner & Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive pic Cage (Mike Colter) with the Immortal Iron Fist (Finn Jones). Actual details of Danny Rand's involvement has been kept mute, but these pics let us know that the heroes for hire will be coming into contact at least once during season 2. I pretty excited about all this, I loved the first half of Luke Cage. (SPOILERS) At least, until Cottonmouth died, & it became a-whole-nother show. In addition, unlike a lot of viewers, I really liked Iron Fist, & The Defenders for that matter. Especially if you keep in mind that they are supposed to be TV quality, & they're damn near movie quality. Anyway, I can't wait, & if I can make a suggestion (Because Netflix totally listens to what I say..) lets scrap any ideas for season a 3 on both these. Then we can get to work with Danny, Luke, & Misty on a Heroes for Hire series. That concept would keep the writing pretty easy from season to season. What do y'all think though? Of Iron Fist popping up in Luke's second season, & my Heroes for Hire pitch? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's "Punisher" Gets Postponed??
So in response to the Las Vegas massacre of 58 on Oct. 1 Netflix pulled out of a pre-scheduled panel session for The Punisher at New York Comic Con. Many believed that the panel would have been followed by a special surprise launch in October, rumored as early as Saturday. Netflix had never announced a date, but it's now expected for late fall. This sucks. If this was really the case & The Punisher was coming this weekend, I'm a little pissed off. I know this was a horribly tragic thing, but with everybody wanting it to be labeled terrorism, I can only think this is the wrong way to handle it. I mean, the definition of terrorism pretty much is to instill terror. Isn't this reaction exactly what they're going for in the first place? Every time we change our actions due to one of these heinous acts we're doing exactly what terror bringers want us to do. I understand there are a lot of guns in The Punisher, & maybe it's because I come from a time when uber-violence was understood as fake when in reference to entertainment. My heart goes out to the victims of Oct. 1st's Las Vegas shooting. I just can't help but feel that giving these shooters as much acknowledgement as we tend to do, is exactly what they want. I wish we would mourn the victims, & not even release the shooter's information. Take away that acknowledgement to let any future copycats know they will NOT be remembered for what they have done. Anyway, off subject, sorry for the rant. Would really like to know others views on this. If this is the case are these the right actions to take. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
First Good Look At "Marvel's Runaways" Series For Hulu
I'm really excited for this one. I read some of the first couple issues of Runaways, but I actually cared more about these characters following some of them in a series called Murderworld. It was a kind of Battle Royale, Hunger Games thing where the contestants of the game had to kill each other off to be the last. After getting closer with some of the Runaways kids, I've wanted to dive back into the Runaways comics. Once this was announced I put those plans on further hiatus. Glad too, Entertainment Weekly put up these awesome exclusive first look pics, & I can't wait to see this series. The premise is amazing, some kids find out their parents are actually supervillains in some "League of Supervillains" known as the Pride. I've got the pic of the kids with the parents underneath down there, & under that is the kids one by one. First there's the parents played by Brigid Branagh (Stacey Yorkes), Kevin Weisman (Dale Yorkes), James Marsters (Victor Stein), Ryan Sands (Geoffery Wilder), Ever Carradine (Janet Stein), Angel Parker (Catherine Wilder), Annie Wersching (Leslie Dean), James Yaegashi (Robert Minoru) & Brittany Ishibashi ( Tina Minoru). Then you've got the kids which I'll list in the order they're pictured from left to right. The pictures really sum up the attitudes of them. The kids are played by Gregg Sulkin (Chase Stein), Lyrica Okano (Nico Minoru), Virginia Gardner (Karolina Dean), Rhenzy Feliz (Alex Wilder), Ariela Barer (Gert Yorkes), & Allegra Acosta (Molly Hernandez). My main question after seeing these pics is how the hell did Inhumans miss the mark so badly? These come off looking like movie quality & Inhumans played in a friggin' IMAX. Anyway, Nov. 21, count me in. If you don't have Hulu now might be the time. What do y'all think though? Do these pictures interest you at all? Does this storyline of kids vs. supervillain parents do it for you? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Thor: Ragnarok" Releases "Behind the Scenes" Video
Marvel put up this Thor: Ragnarok behind the scenes video, but before you get excited it's almost in name only. Sure you get to see a little, insignificantly small amount of behind the scenes, but what this is really for is the people that need this all spelled out for them. If you watched all the trailers to this new installment of Thor, & still don't know what's going on this video is for you. It's basically the actors catching you up to date, letting you know where everyone's head is going in. It does that amazingly. Much more so than it being a behind the scenes video. Check it out & let me know what you think. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Netflix's Punisher Lives Up To Its Moto The Truth Must Be Taken
I think someone at Netflix was listening to me. After expressing my excitement starting to dwindle, it didn't take two days for them to put up this awesome new trailer for Marvel's The Punisher. We're definitely getting some new Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) origin action, now involving some CIA stuff. Also, seeming to be the reason Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) gets involved. This trailer lives up to everything I've been expecting from this Punisher. My excitement is back to it's peak for this one. I've always found Frank's story intriguing, especially when it's done right. His style of vengeance gets lost in the excessive body counts sometimes. At the core though, what really makes Frank, is that through the rage he has a code to his mission. This seemed like we're going to really dive into what behind not only that code, but what's behind that mindset. And instead of being the focus, the giant body count will just serve as the icing on the cake. They've got this coming out sometime 2017. Which they're running out of, so it's got to be right around the corner. Anyway, what do y'all think of this awesome trailer? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Avengers: Infinity War" Going Back In Time & Who's Responsible For Hela's Invasion In "Ragnarok"
Two things here, both of which sound like they could potentially be SPOILERY for some. So if you don't want to know any plot details for Avengers: Infinity War or Thor: Ragnarok do not read any more of this. Move on to the next, it's nothing major, but you have been warned. The first is from ScreenRant reporting Central Casting Georgia's two new casting calls for Avengers: Infinity War. Both for Caucasian females who would play extras as 1960s engineers & secretaries/clerks. These are for small scenes, but let us know that at some point Avengers: Infinity will be taking a trip to the 60's. My mind started racing to all the flashback scenes we could probably see. Then I thought about the Time Gem & the Infinity Gauntlet, opening up numerous possibilities. So many possibilities, without context my mind is going too many different directions to really form an opinion. It's really left me more curious than anything. Next up, also ScreenRant, is a little more spoilery as it deals with the reason Hela is able to invade Asgard in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok is the fact that when we last left Loki he had taken Odin's place, quite literally. What he didn't know was Odin was doing a lot more than he knew to keep the realms at peace. Loki thought he had won, but had know idea of the thing's Odin kept at bay, Hela being the worst. So, basically the whole invasion will be Loki's fault. This, in a nutshell, came from the mouth of Ragnarok producer, Brad Winderbaum. This makes too much sense. It also gives an even better reason for Loki to play with the good guys again. He's at his best when he feels he's been bested by anyone other than his "adopted" family. With them there's almost hint of restraint, while anyone else get's Loki, "gloves off". I can't wait, already have my tickets. What do y'all think of these developments? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Marvel's Punisher New Pics & Teaser
I've been excited for Marvel's Punisher coming to Netflix since they debuted Jon Berthal playing the character in Daredevil: Season 2. I loved the trailer that came out last month. I'm not really sure what I think of this new promo. It features Frank taking out some soldiers Rambo style. Which all looks cool, except for the fact it's shot in strange "shaky cam" supposedly off the soldiers body cams. I didn't really care for it. I'm hoping this is just a one time use, not a frequently used camera trick, but it still leaves me a little worried none the less. Something like that over & over might throw me out of this a bit. Below the promo trailer are some pics that Entertainment Weekly released. A couple of Frank, one from his war days, a couple of Micro (David Lieberman), some agents, acquaintances, & a lot of Daredevil's Karen (Deborah Ann Woll). It looks like she will be a major part of the Punisher's journey. The pics really seem like standard fare. I don't know why my excitement is dwindling for this one. I'm attributing it the fact it's seems like it's been awhile since we've seen Frank. We've had Luke Cage, Iron Fist, & Defenders without a peep from Castle. I don't even remember a mention. (If there was, sorry, I missed the insignificant little thing.) Anyway, I'm hoping by the first episode sometime later this year I swing right back around. I'm sure that'll be the case as I've enjoyed all these Marvel Netflix shows. Anyway, what do y'all think of these? Excited or meh? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Thor: Ragnarok" Puts Out 8 Character Posters
I just got told I could buy my early tickets for the Thor: Ragnarok "Fan Event" at AMC on November 2nd. At the same time Marvel was releasing these 8 character pics for the film. Yes, 8.... Basically every character that matters got their own poster. You've got Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hela (Cate Blanchett), Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Heimdall (Idris Elba), Odin (Anthony Hopkins), & Loki (Tom Hiddleston). The posters are really cool for artsy posters. Using the many different colors of sand for each character just shows the diverse amount of color that will be in this film. As we've already seen in the previews. If I had to pick one that stands above the rest, I would probably go with the Hulk's. The obvious choice of color in his poster almost looks like he's teleporting "Nightcrawler" style. More so however, I really like how they looked when I put them all together. It almost looks like a Marvel pop-art piece. What do y'all think though? Are you feelin' these? What's your pick of the litter? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Misty Knight Whole Again With A Spoiler For Marvel's Defenders
I'm really surprised we're getting pictures of this only weeks from the release of the Marvel/Netflix superhero team-up The Defenders. This was one of the main "WTF?" moments of the series that brings together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, & the Immortal Iron Fist. So needless to say, of you haven't seen the newest series this is definitely somewhat of a SPOILER & you've now been warned. Those that have seen it will recall detective Misty Knight shedding some weight the easy way, as Bakuto lopped off her left arm at the end of the season. Now surprisingly early, Entertainment Weekly has the first pics of Misty sporting her new bionic appendage on the set of Luke Cage Season 2, bringing her closer to her comic-book counterpart. The arm looks surprisingly more like a "real-life" prosthetic than what I was expecting. In the comics it's got a handful (punny) of special features much like Coulson's hand in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show. This looking a "real-life" as it does makes me wonder if we'll be seeing any of those special features or if they'll keep it more "grounded"? Just off looks I would have to say I wanted a little more of a futuristic sci-fi edge, but I really want to hold off any real judgement until I see it in action in 2018. Anyway, what do y'all think? Do y'all like the look? Do y'all think this is a little early to release? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
