Still Untitled, Han Solo Film Fires Director Pair Lord & Miller

"Phil Lord & Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast & crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, & we've decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon." That was the quote from Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm on StarWars.com. Phil Lord & Christopher Miller are most known for pulling off what seemed impossible in making a great movie about building blocks, The LEGO Movie. They had to say, "Unfortunately, our vision & process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing & world-class work of our cast & crew. The film has been shooting for awhile now & remains scheduled for May 2018. I'm not sure what to think here. I was excited to see these guys take on something not in the realm of a full comedic nature. I never know what to take out of the term "creative differences". You would figure these guys go through a type of interview setting where they would get that all on the table, but I'm starting to think studios want a big name so bad they hire & talk about it later. The scary part of this is this leaves Han Solo with no one at the helm & less than a year to go. Curious to see who's shoulders this fall on, & how long the now dreaded, inevitable re-shoots will take. What do y'all think? Is it time to have a bad feeling about this? And should studios start to go over these things in more detail? We see more & more of this every day. Leave it in the comments, like, & share.

Star Wars Vanity Fair Article Dropped Online Today & It's Definitely Worth A Look

The Star Wars article from Vanity Fair dropped today. To check it out click here. Written by David Kamp with pictures by Annie Leibovitz, this is a really in-depth look behind the scenes of The Last Jedi with little to no spoilers. Depending on your view of spoiler. Mark Hamill talks about his feelings on the use of Luke in The Force Awakens, Rian Johnson talks Luke Skywalker, the "newbies" to the original Star Wars cast reveal some of their experiences, & everyone involved discusses the late Carrie Fisher & how important she was to them all. Then there's Leibovitz's amazing pictures. I've collaged them below to encourage you to check them out further I definitely want to point out some specifically though. We got some looks at new folks & places. There's Benicio del Toro's unnamed,  "shady character", looking a lot like original "lived in" Star Wars. Then Laura Dern dressed straight outta the "Prequels" regalness, playing Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, an officer in the resistance. We get a couple shots of the characters from new hotspot Canto Bight, a casino city that looks like it will be populated with various creatures much like Mos Eisley, except for ballers. These all look really good. The rest are just extensions of the covers released yesterday, except for the absolutely touching photos of Carrie Fisher. One with her daughter Billy Lourd & the other with Mark Hamill. These are probably the most beautiful pictures I've seen in a long time. Anyway, tell us in the comments what you think of this article, as well as these spectacular pictures. I will definitely be picking up this issue now.

A Star Wars First For Vanity Fair With A Set of Covers

For the first time Vanity Fair will launch a set of multiple Star Wars covers. The accompanied story on the making of The Last Jedi by David Kamp with the rest of the photo shoot by Annie Leibovitz will hit New York & Los Angeles & arrive nationally June 6. We're gonna take a minute to talk about these covers though. Cover A has Luke (Mark Hamill) & Rey (Daisy Ridley) where we left them in The Force Awakens. However, they look pretty ticked off. Leaving me to wonder why. Cover B has Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) looking the most serious I've seen him so far. Finn (John Boyega), who was in a coma last we saw, looking like he's posing for GQ. Then there's newcomer Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) with the "someone farted try not to laugh look", & BB-8, because, well, BB-8. That droid's awesome. Cover C, you've got Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), & the now scarred up Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). They too, look pretty ticked off. Gotta love Phasma with her spear & no helmet. Hope we get some more, & by more I mean actually anything from her this time around. That character has a lot of potential. Then there's cover D. This one of the late Carrie Fisher as Leia is just regal. Call her General all you please but to me too, she is royalty. Cool covers as magazine covers go though. Wondering if any of the assessments made have anything to do with the films, or they're just stylized photos? The story sound cool. Talking about Kylo's wounds, hints at some Last Jedi Finn action. As well as reflections with the cast & director Rian Johson on Carrie Fisher & Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy discussing the expanded role Leia was to have in the final installment to this trilogy. I'll probably have to Pokémon these & collect them all. What do y'all think of these covers? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.

Mace Windu Is Getting His Own Comic Series

Little known fact, but it will come as no surprise, I have a small collection of deluxe lightsabers at my house. Of these, my favorite standard lightsaber is the purple "bladed" weapon of Mace Windu. Now StarWars.com has announced Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu, a five-issue miniseries from Marvel Comics. Coming in August this, miniseries will be penned by Matt Owens & illustrated by Denys Cowan. I've always enjoyed any extra background on the character originally brought to life in the prequels by Samuel L. Jackson. Marvel's official description goes: " For over a thousand generations, the Jedi have been the peacekeepers of the galaxy...but now, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, they find themselves in a new role: generals in the Army of the Republic. As Mace Windu, one of the Jedi's greatest warriors, leads a small unit of Jedi into battle shortly after the war begins, the Jedi must make peace with their new role, or be lost to the violence around them!" I dig it. I'll be adding these to my pickup list at the comic store for sure. What do you think? More Mace? Let us know in comments below.

Kylo Ren Has The Slickest, Meanest Looking TIE Fighter Ever

Making Star Wars just happened to notice a pre-order form from Liechtenstein hobby shop Mikado for an upcoming Hot Wheels toy. What toy you ask? Oh, only what could be the coolest TIE Fighter ever. That's right, by pure accident (or sheer will of the Force), we have a photo of Kylo Ren's sleek TIE Fighter from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In the words of Jack Nicholson's Joker, "Where does he get all these wonderful toys?" I love this thing, & will probably own a version or two. Let us know in the comments what you think of this new addition to Kylo's arsenal?

Why did J.J. Abrams Change His Ending For "The Force Awakens"? That Wasn't The Droid Rian Johnson Was Looking For.

So Rian Johnson is directing the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but apparently this will not be his first imprint in the Star Wars universe. In an interview with EW Johnson revealed he had asked J.J. Abrams for a big favor. What was that favor? Nothing big... Just changing his original ending for The Force Awakens. Johnson told EW, "I asked if R2 could come with Rey, & if BB-8 could stay behind with the Resistance."  He goes on to say, "Originally it was BB-8 who went with Rey, which makes sense for the story in a way. But I asked, 'Can you do me this solid & switch the droids?'" We know the outcome, R2D2 accompanies Rey to Luke's island of seclusion to return his lightsaber. Seems like Johnson really wanted to get R2 & Mr. Skywalker back together again. The question is why? It could have something to do with the fact that Rian Johnson also told EW that when first sitting down to write The Last Jedi his first concern was Luke. he said, "Figuring out where his head was at was the very first thing I had to do when writing the movie. I had to crack this. And it had to be something for me that first & foremost made sense. Why did Luke Skywalker go off to this island?" He goes on to say how it has to be something that not only makes sense to Luke, it has to make sense to us. That's not only some amazing insight into The Last Jedi, it's also an awesome look at two people compromising for the sake of the whole. It's always great getting two or more greats on the same page. What do you think of these revelations? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.

Have You Seen The Trailer For Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Yet?

So I didn't pay this much attention when it leaked, & by the time it was official I was lost in the other amazing things coming out of Star Wars Celebration this year. I got to give it a watch today, & that was immediately followed by giving it another watch. Then, I cursed myself for not having a next-gen system yet. After cursing myself, I then cursed EA for making this game, therefore being responsible for me having to get a next-gen system. All cursing aside though, this game looks amazing. Not just in looks either. From what I've gathered this has a storyline that takes place after the second Death Star explodes. You're Iden, an elite stormtrooper who seems to be a key player in the events that unfold between Episode 6 & 7, Basically you're going to see the rebellion become the resistance from the opposite side of the coin. For those with Jedi/Sith battles on the brain they have you covered to. We see some build up to what appears to be a Yoda/Darth Maul fight about to jump off. As well as a straight off the movie screen lookin Kylo Ren. I'm actually most excited about this storyline mode though. Anything that further plugs in the holes between films I'm all game for. What do y'all think? Let me know in the comments. While you're at it, I've never got a chance to play first one. Loved the originals so feel free to list any likes or dislikes so I know whether it will hold me over or not.

Fourth Season Of Star Wars: Rebels Will Be The Last (Trailer)

In the rolercoaster of emotion that has been Star Wars Celebration this year we have another happy/sad moment. At the Star Wars Rebels panel we got a sweet trailer followed by the news that this season coming this fall would unfortunately be the last. We got confirmation of Saw Gerrera & Mon Mothma, as well as a tease of the possibility of Boba Fett. Executive producer,  Dave Filoni made sure to assure everyone that, "This is by no means the end of what we're doing in animation." This is where I mention his shirt, which changed from Ashoka Lives? to Ashoka Lives!, and I have a strange feeling he was hinting at something... As for the trailer, it looks awesome.  I've got to be honest though, I've only seen Season 1 so I'm still playing catch-up right now. I didn't have any faith in this show at first, thinking it would be a toned down Star Wars for kids. When my littlest girl started getting into Star Wars I grabbed the "movie". Which was just the two pilot episodes, & before I knew it i had found a great Star Wars series worthy of carrying the name. So I bought Season 1 in it's entirety. Hooked from that point on, I'm currently awaiting Season 2 to show up in my mailbox. This show proves the infinite amount of room Star Wars has to grow, even with all new characters. So all in all, though I can't speak for the new trailer, I can vouch for this series. I'm only one season in & just with that season alone, I can say it totally tops Clone Wars. I'm sure I'll want more after this season ends too, so I'm happy to know if this is the end, it's not entirely the end.

Kathleen Kennedy Says No Leia For Star Wars Episode 9

Earlier last week, Todd Fisher was reported by New York Daily News saying Carrie Fisher through use of stock footage would reprise the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode 9 following The Last Jedi. All rejoiced. Today, at Celebration however, in an exclusive with ABC News Kathleen Kennedy was asked by Paula Faris about what capacity Carrie Fisher would be used. To which the Lucasfilm President replied, "He (Todd) was probably confused." Going on she flat out said, "sadly Carrie will not be in nine." She did confirm that we will see a lot of Leia in The Last Jedi. It doesn't get more from the top than Kathleen Kennedy so I'm thinking we can take this one in stone. Now I'm just hoping the General gets a proper ending to her chapter. What do you think? Should they have gave it a shot? I can't really even have a guess until we see what exactly unfolds on December 15. Until then, may the force be with you all.

With Teaser Comes Last Jedi Poster

I usually don't get that excited about a movie poster, but this thing is awesome. Compared to newer movie posters this one looks like it deserves to be in the past. It has a nostalgic feel to it, & puts it's emphasis where it should, with the last Jedi taking front & center. I'm glad they fought the urge to litter everything on here at once like The Force Awakens poster. Hopefully we'll get some sort of series of these for each character as this one really hit the mark.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi poster expanded.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser Trailer is Here

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser just dropped, & if you're expecting to learn any secrets about the upcoming film don't. It doesn't show much. However like great teasers do it does show you enough to peak your excitement & make it even harder to wait till December 15. Let ys know your thoughts in the comments. Like, share, & may the force be with you.

Star Wars Ladies Get a New Series

Lucasfilm & Disney announced a new series of animated shorts accompanied by a Hasbro toyline that's gonna be all about the ladies. That's right girls, for the few remaining females left that say Star Wars is a guy thing, I have your rebuttal. Star Wars: Forces of Destiny will feature Rey, Jyn Erso, Princess Leia, Sabine Wren, Ahsoka Tano, & Maz Kanata. Did I mention the cast? These aren't going to be voice actors. Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, Tiya Sircar, Ashley Eckstein, & Lupita Nyong'o will lend their talents to help bring these characters to life. According to Collider, this series of mini-episodes will start in July on Disney YouTube followed by a two part special with eight episodes on Disney Channel in the Fall. Followed by toys, books, apparel, & bedding, this thing sounds like it's gonna be a powerhouse & usher in a new generation of young Star Wars fans. If it's anything like Clone Wars & Rebels it will also be highly appealing to the older generation of fans as well. Here's the first look.
