I love this show! IBM's Science & Star Wars second episode features the closest thing to a droid I've ever seen. It can see, understand & respond to commands, & interface with the show's AI co-host to answer questions. Once again they've come closer than I thought they would to bringing the science fiction of Star Wars into the realm of science fact. I can't wait for more of this series to play out just to see how far they push the envelope. What did y'all think though? Will you be in the market for a helper droid in the future? What particularly would you want one for? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi Offically Finished
And with this picture released on director Rian Johnson's Instagram, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially complete. Giving a shout out to the hardest working post production team in the galaxy, he has confirmed that Last Jedi has wrapped & is "in the can". This is exciting news for the one film besides Force Awakens since Disney bought Lucasfilm, to finish without a major hitch. Yes, we tragically lost Carrie Fisher, but her loss is seeming to effect Episode IX far more than it's effects were felt on the actual developments that take place in The Last Jedi. Looks like the only thing left now is the battle for tickets & the wait for December 15th, opening day. Thrilling news though, Last Jedi is officially done. What do y'all think? What's your level of excitement going in? Anything that must happen for your enjoyment? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Ron Howard's "Spicey", Still Untitled, Han Solo Pic
So Ron Howard tweeted out this pick with the caption Spicey. I'm figuring this is the entrance to a Spice Mine. Probably the famous Spice Mines of Kessel, leading one to believe we might actually get the Kessel Run. That was one of the major things I actually wanted to see in this untitled Han Solo film, besides a friggin' name. That being said though, wouldn't it be cool if it was called The Kessel Run? I'd not only go for that, it would probably restore a little faith in this film that I'm not sure anyone asked for. As for the picture, good job, it looks like a mine entrance one would encounter on a Star Wars planet. Can get too much more than that from a background set pic. I would love to just get a damn name for this thing. Finally getting a look at the dreaded Spice Mines is intriguing, but knowing for sure they were the Spice Mines of Kessel would have been a lot more satisfying. Out of all my worries though, instead of the caption "spicey", the caption Kessel would have eased my worries a little more. A name would be even better by the way. We're almost to a half a year & still don't know what this thing is going to be called. What do y'all think of the pic though? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Science & Star Wars" First Episode Does Lightsabers.... Kinda
IBM's Science & Star Wars first episode has kicked off this exploration into a galaxy from a long time ago, far, far away with trying to create a lightsaber. An eloquent weapon from a more eloquent time. Needless to say, I was excited about this as it was one more step into me one day owning a lightsaber of my own. After watching I found this isn't as much a lightsaber though, it's more of a one-use vibroblade. Which is still impressive as hell, it's still the closest thing I've ever seen. Watching this thing saw through steel got me pretty excited. Biggest drawbacks were the oxygen tank & the fact that it looked like a one-use thing. Which kinda bummed me out a bit, but did I mention this thing melted steel like butter? I can't wait to see more episodes of this show. More so, what do y'all think of this? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
IBM's Trailer Shows My Next Must See With "Science & Star Wars"
The title says it all. I can't wait to see this. Starting next week IBM is sponsoring this mission to turn Star Wars science fiction into science. They're trying to make lightsabers, laserblasters, force powers, hell, they're even going to try to build a landspeeder. Finally, progress. One more step closer to me inevitably owning my own lightsaber one day. I'm thinking landspeeder as well now, but count me in for sure if they manage to whip up a speeder bike. What do y'all think? Are y'all in for this show as well? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
J.J. Abrams To Write/Direct Episode IX, Release Date Pushed Back
"Star Wars: Return of the J.J." It's all anyone was talking about yesterday. I don't even know exactly where I heard it from. It was everywhere, but J.J. Abrams, the man who started all this in motion with Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be returning to finish up this current installment of the Skywalker trilogy with Episode IX. I should be ecstatic, this is the guy who not only brought back Star Trek, he made it cool. I love Star Trek, but even I never thought that would be possible. However, I can't help but think of one thing that keeps nagging in the back of my mind. The best way to put it is, I love how J.J. starts things off, I'm just not usually to crazy when he tries to end things. Making him perfect for something like Awakens, but leaving me a little worried in the Episode IX department. Remember LOST? Started off amazing; we won't discuss the ending though. Also, included with this news was the news Chris Terrio will co-write with Abrams. If that name sounds familiar it's because he also co-wrote Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Which though I'm a defender of, it's never been because of the writing. I've got to say, I'm actually growing concerned for this movie. I'm not the only one either, Variety followed this up this morning with the news that Episode IX will be abandoning it's May 24th release date for December 20, 2019. Many people saw this coming for awhile now, so it's not a giant surprise. Especially after this giant change of plans. Fingers crossed though, Abrams has done some amazing things. If he's ever going to wrap something up perfectly let's just hope this is the one. What do y'all think though? I'm really curious as the reception this gets. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Thank you Jason Aaron For Your Amazing Run On Marvel's "Star Wars"
Jason Aaron is hanging up his pen & is finished writing on Marvel's Star Wars comic. October 4th will mark his final issue on what has been an amazing run. If you haven't been following these & are a Star Wars fan, you have done yourself a grave injustice. After 37 issues on Marvel’s blockbuster ongoing series, Aaron is passing the torch to fellow superstar, Kieron Gillen. Marvel put up this awesome tribute to Jason Aaron and all of the other talented creators, including David Aja, Simone Bianchi, Mark Brooks, John Cassaday, Marco Checchetto, Mike Deodato Jr., Terry Dodson, Stuart Immonen, Salvador Larroca, Mike Mayhew, Jorge Molina and Leinil Francis Yu. It showcases all the covers up to now. I can attest as a person who buys way too many comics if you're only going to pick up two comics Star Wars & Darth Vader have been some of the best reads of the past years. It's always scary to have someone else pick up writing on something that's been this good for this long. I hate to see him go. He's added some really cool things to the Star Wars universe. Hopefully, someone can fill the big shoes he's leaving behind. Definitely check these out though, I can't stress how great this run has been. If you know, tell us what you think. What's your favorite issue out of the run? Mine are any of the issues that are taken from Obi-Wan Kenobi's journal. Put yours in the comments, like, & share.
Trevorrow Out On Episode IX With Lucasfilm Still Struggling With Directors
The Force has not been strong this year with Lucasfilm when it comes to directors. First, the idiotic try by Lord & Miller with their try at a slapstick, now still unnamed Han Solo film. Now, THR reports Colin Trevorrow has been separated from directing/writing Star Wars: Episode IX. The official statement form Lucasfilm & Disney was, "Lucasfilm & Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best & will be sharing more information about the film soon." Well if that ain't the nicest way to say you're fired? THR sources say the working relationship between Trevorrow & Kathleen Kennedy became unmanageable. Harsh. Apparently, they could not come to an agreement on the script. Some people attribute this to the piss-poor reaction to Trevorrow's last film, Book of Henry. I haven't seen that so I can only judge from his work on Jurassic World, which I did enjoy & am excited for it's follow-up. Haven't said that about Jurassic for awhile now. He also did another movie I'm very fond of. An indie film called Safety Not Guaranteed. Really good film; if you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth the time. Good thing it's early off. So not too big of a loss, this thing is a mere thought as of right now. I was interested in what Trevorrow would have done though. Even if Book of Henry was that bad, he's got 2 out of the 3 I know of. My worries are all put off when I hear the rumored replacements. THR say talks of Rian Johnson staying on from VIII, or even possibly J.J. Abrams himself coming back around. I'm in on J.J., & provided Last Jedi is as good as I think it's going to be, slash looking to be, I'm in on Johnson as well. What do y'all think about this news? Crushed? Don't care? Who do you want to replace? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Details On Poe Dameron's X-Wing In New Empire Article
It's crunch time for Star Wars right now as we're in the home-stretch. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is right around the corner & with that new stuff will probably be coming at us left & right. Now Screenrant's talking about an upcoming issue of Empire magazine. The cover has Luke & Rey & say it features "The full story of Luke Skywalker's emotional return." Couldn't find any real details on that, but Screenrant did have some details from the article on Poe Dameron's new upgraded X-wing fighter codenamed Black One. Apparently, this new fighter has been retrofitted to include a "speed burst" of sorts. It doesn't last long but gives him enough speed to get the job done. There's a pic of the fighter & the issues cover below. This is just the first tease of apparently what will be a week filled of Star Wars from Empire. Not much, however, Luke still looks pissed & the fighter's upgrade sounds awesome. We'll have to wait & see how they pull it off. What do y'all think of this? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
New Star Wars Blip Features The Adorable Space Penguin, The Porg
These little Porgs are going to empty many wallets this year as toys fly off the shelves. They are friggin' adorable. In this Star Wars Blip, one of the little space penguins Stowaway (Title of episode by the way.) on the Millenium Falcon with BB-8 & the mighty Chewbacca. One point of this had me rolling. I really enjoy these cute little things, but not only that, my little 4 yr old girl thinks they're adorable. Anything that keeps her interested in Star Wars works for me. She's my Star Wars Rebels viewing partner. Check out the new trailer for that here. Anyway, space penguins! Check it out! Put what you think in the comments, like, & share.
BB-9E In Action As Well As Some R2-D2 Fan Service In Two New Star Wars Blips
Yay!! More Star Wars Blips!!! This time around we get the first encounter between BB-8 & his new nemesis BB-9E. I think this Blip, titled Hey You, was cute, but I still don't know how I feel about an actual droid rivalry taking place in the Star Wars films. Watching this made me realize how much it would stand out from the rest of the film. Something like that just feels a little silly. Love it in "Blip" form though, it fits this little mini-series' tone so far & is probably one of the best episodes. I have to say one of the best, because this next one made me laugh out loud. Called Fan Droids, this has the new line of droids gathered around watching R2-D2's "Greatest Hits". Not only is it funny it has a great payoff in the end. R2 is not only the true hero of the Star Wars, the droid's also the envy of his peers. Check 'em out though, all these Blips have been fun so far. Let us know what you think I the comments, like, & share.
New Trailer For Final Season Of "Star Wars: Rebels" Looks Epic
After seeing this if you can't tell this series is coming to an end, you watched the wrong trailer. I've loved almost every episode of this series, & that's saying a lot for an animated as there's always some "throw-away" episodes. That said, I can only think of less than a handful of these I didn't find some significance in. This new trailer looks like the last season won't disappoint either. Everything's coming to a close, & it hints to the fact that our heroes' fate might not lie with the rebellion. At least not with Mon Mothma's rebellion. There's three main things I took out of this trailer that I really want to see besides the fate of the Ghost's crew. First, there's the overall fate of Mandalore. I went from not really caring about this much, to this being the thing I want to see the most. They've really done this Mandalore build-up right. Second, there was the heavy influence of Saw Gerrera. He trained with Anakin Skywalker & Ashoka Tano in the Clone Wars, & somehow become a robotic shell of himself. Only to be very oddly acted by one of my favorite actors, Forest Whitaker in Rogue One. I'm hoping we get some signs into the overall mind frame & the robotics that make up the character between Star Wars Clone Wars & the events of Rogue One. Third, there's one of my favorite villains they've been re-inventing, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn got thrown away when the pre-Disney novels got labeled non-canon & re-dubbed Legends. He was by far the best thing about all of the Legend novels combined. It was great to see him re-invented last season, I just wanted more. Anyway, this trailer has me totally pumped. I can't wait for October 16. What did y'all think? What stood out? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Still No Name, Ron Howard Confirms Paul Bettany's Addition To Han Solo Movie
Ron Howard's Twitter is probably the most anticipated thing in the Star Wars universe right now. Why you ask? Because with that being the biggest line of info coming in & out since he took over, that's most likely where the name of this untitled Han Solo is going to come from. Until that day, hopefully before the movie is released, we'll have to get announcements on everything but. The newest of which coming in the form of Paul Bettany being added to the smuggler's cast. I love Paul Bettany. He's been a favorite of mine since Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger. Since then, I've found him capable of almost anything on screen. I can only assume this addition is so late in the game, to cover the part previously played by Michael K Williams. Williams was unable to make the major reshoots & his part was pulled recently. Really sucks for him, but if this is the case we might have just, we might have just upgraded with Bettany. It's good to hear this thing sounds like it's back on track. After the nightmares so far it needs some light shed the dark clouds it's had over it. What do y'all think though? Is this a good trade out? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
"Force Friday II" Sheds Some New Details On Supreme Leader Snoke
In addition to being surrounded by adorable porgs & a new droid, "Force Friday II" has given us some small details on the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke. First & foremost there's the "Black Series" action figure I saw below at GameStop. Immediately I first noticed the yellow robes. This is a little bright for what we're used to in our Star Wars dark lords. I'm curious to know if that means something? Making wonder if Snoke considers himself Sith, or another incarnation of baddie? I was also surprised at how human Snoke is. For some reason, I don't know why, I was expecting his skin tone to be more alien-like grey. Where this makes him out to be an old white dude like the Emperor. Speaking of he Emperor though, the more I see better looks at Snoke's scars, the more I think he is the Emperor's former master, Darth Plagueis the wise. I hope it's something to that extent. I really want Snoke to have deep ties to the Star Wars galaxy. The other piece of information is from Sphero's new toys, & it's about Snoke's Mega-class Star Destroyer. It's the only Mega-class Star Destroyer measuring in at a staggering 60 kilometers in length, & resembling a giant, space faring, B-2 Bomber. Acting as central command for the First Order, this monstrosity of a ship not only carries Stormtroopers into battle, it also harbors ships & can build ships on board. For a small comparison in size this thing can dock multiple Star Destroyers. I can't wait to see this thing in action. I can already imagine some intense, amazingly huge space battles raging around this thing. Come on December, I need some Last Jedi in my life, even though I know that only means waiting yet again for the next installment. What do y'all think though? Any insights on these Snoke developments? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Start Your Force Friday Off With A New BB Unit! It's The New Rage For The Whole Galaxy!
Yes, apparently a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away you could walk into your local droid store & say whether you want a good or evil droid. I only say that because one look at this new BB unit & you can tell it's obviously a bad little bastard. BB-9E is what we'll be calling this new droid belonging to the First Order. It rolls around like BB-8, except it's got a black & grey finish, what resembles a mouse droid as a head, & a menacing red eye that seems to peer straight through your soul. Variety says Disney & Sphero, the designers of this toy version, describe the unit as a "rolling menace" saying it's part of the First Order's Astromech Unit, keeping starships & machinery operational. I guess it makes a lot of since that BB-8 is not the only one of it's kind, & if it's the current model of droid than it makes since the First Order would have a few. If this becomes a weird droid rivalry though, I don't know how on board I am. That could come all overtly silly, like beyond Jar-Jar silly. What do y'all think? One, on the make of the droid, but also if you think this is set up for a droid rivalry? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Luke Looks Pissed
I could've just put the title on this & left it at that. Mark Hamill put this up on his Twitter. It's from a magazine in a language I can't understand. So we're going to go with it's called that & it's from a country that is not America. What I do understand however is looks. And the look on Luke Skywalker's face is not only pretty damn intense, it is also the look of anger. Someone pissed in Luke's cornflakes. He's dressed in what looks like a heavier version of his Return of the Jedi garb, & the dark outfit only helps the intensity in the eyes of the farm-boy turned last Jedi. I can't help but wonder what he's so angry at? Yoda warned us where emotions such as these lead. What do you think of this cover? Light on the character we'll see, or just an image? Starting to think Luke might be going a little darker than we thought? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
A Couple Of The "First Order" WMDs From Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Got a good look at the new First Order version AT-AT & Star Destroyer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Star Wars put this up on Twitter & my first thought when seeing it was, damn, that AT-AT does look like a gorilla. The way this thing hunches over it probably has better balance than it's predecessors. It also has this look of an angry beast, extra cannon on the hunched back, red visor, you don't want to see these things coming through the trees. The AT-AT was coupled with this pic of what appears to be a First Order Star Destroyer. It's a little different than what we're used to seeing with the same triangle build from before. This time however, the tower of old is split in half & lowered across the whole of the back making for a smaller target head on. There's also a hole, or indention in the middle of the ship. Could be a hangar, maybe some sort of weapon? I'm curious to see if these modifications hold some sort of surprise or it's just ascetic to look cool. Won't know for sure until December. Until then, what do y'all think of these pics? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Thank The Maker! Part Of The Untitled Han Solo Movie Is Officially Complete
It's been a pretty rough road for the upcoming stand-alone Han Solo film. I've even went as far as saying they should make a movie about the ordeal to making this movie. Which despite rumors that LEGO gave it away, we still don't officially have a title for. Now however, a small ray of light shines down on the Millenium Falcon as director Ron Howard has announced via Twitter that Donald Glover has officially wrapped his work as Lando on the untitled film. He actually used #UntitledHanSoloMovie, which I would totally say use for my aforementioned movie about the behind-the-scenes hell of making this one. That aside, this is finally some good news involving the Han Solo film. It lets us know there is a chance this thing is on track now & they're actually making some progress. I've still got hope that this thing can be good, & I've heard rebellions are built on hope.. Lucasfilm owned by Disney hasn't done us too wrong yet, I've enjoyed everything they've put out so far. That includes the books & comics. Though some have not been great, nothing they've released has been bad yet. Let's let this small completion be the first sign that everything else is behind this now, & Ron Howard has it back on track. Fingers crossed, May 25, 2018 isn't getting further away. What do y'all think of this? Just an inevitable completion, or a sign of things starting to go right? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Studio May Have Got Real Creative With The Name For Untitled Han Solo Film
If there was only a way to convey sarcastic tone in text. It would have definitely been used in the title to this. The name to the upcoming young Han Solo may have been revealed by accident, & we might have been wasting the word "untitled" the whole time. While there's a chance this could be just a mockup used to place-hold until the title is developed, Screenrant came across Twitter user Girl With The Staff's posted image of some toy production materials. Highlighting some new Star Wars microfighters Lego sets, there was a logo with a "Confidential" watermark stamped across it. It revealed the title as Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. I know, totally revealing title. Definitely worth all the speculation. This is the title I've been using in my pics. So, going off this & Rogue One: A Star Wars Story it's probably going to be safe to put your money on Ben's movie being called Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Star Wars Story. This title for Han Solo is not in concrete as it really hasn't been confirmed, but that doesn't mean it doesn't make since. I was kinda hoping for a title that had a little more of the films substance to it, but hell, I'll just take any name now. What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Beware Cuteness Overload As Porgs Join Newest Star Wars Blip
How can you possibly make a BB-8 Star Wars Blip even cuter? Add some porgs from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi! These little alien penguin lookin things are friggin' adorable! Mischievous little bastards in this episode titled Keep Away, as they try to get a piece of BB-8 like the droids in a boy band. Love these blips! What do y'all think? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
