I think the craziest part about this is as long as the character of Kermit has been with us this is only the third person to take the reins of the Muppets front-man, sorry, front-frog. This YouTube video marks the first for Matt Vogel who recently took over after the not-so-quiet split between Disney & Steve Whitmire. Whitmire haven taken over the role from creator Jim Henson after his passing in 1990. This looks like a less somber frog than we've been used to & might take the character back to more of his original, whimsical self. We won't know for sure until we see more. I'm sure we'll get a bigger taste at the Hollywood Bowl. Funniest little piece of irony for me in all this is the fact that Vogel is the voice for the evil Kermit-doppelganger Constantine. Meaning essentially, he has finally replaced Kermit in a way. He nefarious plan from the start coming to fruition. Anyway, what do y'all think of the changes? If I didn't know, in all honesty, I don't think I'd have noticed. Put it in the comments, like, share.
Poster For Olaf's Frozen Adventure
I was already pumped for the release of Pixar's upcoming Nov. 22 release Coco when the trailer for Olaf's Frozen Adventure dropped. I didn't think I could get anymore excited for this film until that happened. I love me some Olaf, & this featurette looks great. Now we have this new poster showcasing everyone's favorite singing snowman (Sorry Frosty) sitting atop the reindeer with the most personality (Sorry Rudolph) Sven. Poster's pretty cool. They're in the middle of nowhere showcasing the adventure part of the title. It looks like there's a "breadcrumb" trail of lanterns. Which, why use breadcrumbs when you have lanterns? Don't know if I'd hang this one on my wall, but I'd definitely wear it on a shirt. What do y'all think? Do y'all dig the poster? Does it get you any more excited for this featurette? For that matter, I'm curious does this featurette help peak your interest a little more in going to see Coco? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
That's Better. Photos Of Broadway's "Frozen The Musical" Cast In Costume
Entertainment Weekly released these pictures of the cast in costume for Broadway's upcoming Frozen: The Musical & they are definitely more on point with what we'd expect. I was a little worried after the first concept pics of some of Anna's costumes came out. That coupled with the talk of the other "more realistic" changes scared me. These look amazing though. As if the characters jumped right off the screen. This is fantasy coming alive on stage to the fullest. That said though, I'm most curious to see how they pull of some of the more fantastical elements of this story. Not only Olaf the singing snowman, but the very animated reindeer Sven as well. We'll know for sure when Parri Murin, Caissie Levy, Jelani Alladin, & John Riddell come together for the try-out in Denver Aug 17 - Oct 1 & arrive in Broadway February 2018. Where there will be more story, more songs, & 362 costume based on 172 designs all inspired by the Oscar-winning animated film. Part of me wants to try to get a look at this while it's in Denver, but I'm starting to think I should've planned that idea a little better. Anyway, what do y'all think of these beautiful costumes? Full-Length Muppets Live Show Coming To Hollywood Bowl
I love me some Muppets, & if this thing was closer to me, you'd have to battle to keep me away. This thing sound awesome. The Muppets will be taking the Hollywood Bowl for a live performance. It's described as "the Muppets starring in a unique mix of inspired, chaotic, entertainment as never seen before, live & in-person, on stage at the legendary Hollywood Bowl." It will contain classic & new sketches, music, laughter, parody, dancing, & a fireworks finale. Basically, a all talent show featuring the Muppets. I feel as if I'm saying this a lot as of late, but I hope they stream this. It sound like an amazing event, & I'd hate to miss it just because it's too far for me to attend. If you're on the right coast & want to check it out it's only Sept 8-10th. What do y'all think though? Does this sound fun? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
If You Didn't Watch The New DuckTales This Weekend, You Missed Way More Than Nostalgia
I was able to catch the new DuckTales on Disney XD during the 24 hr. marathon on Saturday with the whole family, & I had already surmised from what I'd already seen it was going to be good. What I didn't figure for however, was that it was going to be that good, I not only loved this, but my whole family loved this. A family that consists of a range of ages might I add. I think the best part about this whole thing is how everything is different, yet it still all manages to feel the exact same as the original show we loved. There's some total nostalgic bits in there. At one point you get to run through a who's who of artifacts fans of the original will be able to pick out. Then there comes the same but different stuff, which all works by the way. First & foremost Donald has a part this time. Same Donald you know & love just not left behind to join the Navy this time around. He also is not to fond of Uncle Scrooge. Apparently, he was his traveling partner through his treasure seeking adventures until a fallout. Uncle Scrooge is a little different than you remember. He's best described as the Scrooge from the original DuckTales, if he went on all of those adventures with just Donald instead. Now we're years after where he's feeling like a has-been. Launchpad is his driver-slash-pilot-slash-comic relief. The nephews Huey, Dewey, & Louie now have a reason for you to try to remember their names. These guys should've had three distinct personalities from the get go. It's an idea that works so great, that thought is all that can keep going through your head. Another in needed changes was Webby. She is now an intimidating, martial arts using, weapons-wielding, bad-@$$. Far from the whiny, little girl character from the previous iteration. This was great for me, as her character got on my nerves as much as it did the nephews when I was a kid. Seeing her as just another kid capable of her own contributions was a really cool character change. Like I said everything new worked great. This was an amazing pilot, & more than all of this it was hilarious. This episode was genuinely funny. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how funny this episode was. Disney has some really good comedic writers over there right now on some of these cartoons. I found myself laughing through most of it, & smiling throughout the rest. I can't wait to see the rest of this series!! They totally nailed this one. Even more than all this though, I would love to know what anyone else thought about it? Especially the changes from the original, was there anything you wish would've stayed the same? Leave it in the comments, like, share, & give it a watch. The whole Woo-oo! episode is now available on YouTube, check it out...
What Is Elsa Wearing?!? Frozen Broadway Costumes Revealed (Updated: What is ANNA wearing?!?)
Frozen is Disney's newest addition to Broadway, scheduled to debut Spring of next year. Chip & Co. had some details as well as some costume reveals. They mentioned those wouldn't be the only changes as the Broadway version will be 20 minutes longer, with some changes to the score. All the original songs will be there, in addition to 12 new songs just for Broadway. Wondering at what point does this become something too different to resonate with fans. That being said back to these costumes. What the hell are those? They look like someone went to the Alaskan Salvation Army & decided to play dress-up. You've got the Queen of green trash bags & her cold weather carriage driver. It's like they're going for a realistic approach in a story with a talking snowman. I'm totally not feeling these, not that I frequent Broadway anyway. This hasn't got me wanting to change that so far. What do y'all think? What's your feelings on these costumes? Let me know in the comments, like, & share.
(UPDATE) Apparently a couple of sites are floating these pics around with pics of both sisters. Thanks to Stitch Kingdom, & some further digging to make sure, originating in the NY Post it appears both of these costumes belong to Anna. Doesn't really change my views on them, but nonetheless, they are only Anna's. She is both the Princess of green trash bags & the cold carriage driver.
International Poster Gives Us A Family Reunion For Pixar's Upcoming "Coco"
I don't think I've ever had so little worry that a film was going to be amazing. Everything I see for Pixar's upcoming November release Coco assures me that this film isn't going to be anything short of amazing. This new international poster is just another example. It's not just a family reunion, this new poster shows a whole story in itself. You can read so much into each of the characters just in there body language & expressions. The previews are amazing, the music is beautiful, & I haven't seen a poster for this thing, present company included, I wouldn't put on my wall. What do y'all think? Not only about the poster, but also your level of excitement for Coco? Considering it's so close to Book of Life, I really want to know what other people think of this one. Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney To Leave Netflix In 2019
You won't be Netflix & chillin with the mouse for too much longer. Disney has announced it will be pulling out of popular streaming service in favor of their own according to John Campea's Movie Vlog. No word on if that will include Marvel & Lucasfilm, but one would kinda figure those are implied. Who knows? I'm more interested in what a Disney Streaming Service would look like. Does that include vaulted classics or shorts on top of what's released. Additions like that would really dictate if I needed this in my life or not. I could totally see me shelling out to be able to watch any Disney classic, film or short from any device. Not to mention if they added some of the old television content such as Disneyland, The World Of Color, & of course the Mickey Mouse Club. Who's with me? Who else is curious about this? For that matter is there anyone who this will make reevaluate their Netflix subscription? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Another Casting For Lion King, But Please, No Beyonce
We finally have a voice for the baboon Rafiki. Who if you don't know was not only royal adviser of the Pride Lands, he was one of the best parts of the original 1994 Lion King. He was basically that movie's Yoda, & every movie needs a Yoda. Anyway, according to Collider he will be played by Captain America: Civil War's John Kani. Which is cool, I remember him having a distinct voice. That's about all I remember as, SPOILERS, he was Black Panther's father for all of 2 minutes in Civil War. I hope the character is still as "out there" as he was in the original, Kani comes off as a little serious of a pick. Not really what I pictured, but then again, I haven't seen much of him. For all I know this guy has an amazing range. No matter, this was the least of my worries anyway. The worst rumor I had heard about this movie just got even more ugly. Collider also mentioned the fact that not only is Beyoncé nearing final negotiations for the part of Nala, she might also be writing new music. This assaults my soul. I usually don't form a personal opinion on artists. I judge artists, whether they be actors, singers, writers, etc. based on their art. Very few times will I say I don't like someone as a person. Beyoncé is one of those times. I can't stand this idea, personal feelings aside, I'm not fond of Queen Bey as an actress. Almost even more so, I'm not so fond of her music. That being said, her music doesn't scream "Musical" or "Disney" in an sense. This is a DreamWorks move, & I'm a little thrown off to see it out of Disney. What do y'all think? Especially those who actually like Beyoncé, I really want to know if her fans even want to see this? Let me know in the comments, like, & share.
Alfre Woodard Added To Disney's Live-Action "Lion King"
Props to anyone who can write a line in the comments from the 1994 Lion King off the top, off the head, spoken by Sarabi, Simba's mom. There's definitely not that many too chose from. Hopefully, that will change now that Alfre Woodard has took on the role in the upcoming live-action adaption according to a THR exclusive. She'll be joining Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), John Oliver (Zazu), & Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar). I'm sure this role will have a little more to it, considering it's live-action & they tend to stretch out for some extra story. It'd be a shame not to, I've really enjoyed most of Woodard's roles in the past. Great addition. What are y'all's thoughts? Put 'em in the comments, like, & share.
Hayley Atwell Will Join Disney's Live Action Christopher Robin
So we know the upcoming live-action Winnie the Pooh, titled Christopher Robin, will focus on a grown-up Christopher (Ewan McGregor) reuniting with Pooh & the rest of the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Woods. Now we know he's also married. Chip & Co. reports Hayley Atwell will be joining in as Mrs. Robin. Atwell is best known for being the love interest of Captain America & founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter. Loved her in Captain America, & even more so in the first season of Agent Carter. I didn't see the second season, & apparently she was Cinderella's mother in the 2015 live-action remake. (I really need to watch that movie again.) I love me some Winnie the Pooh & I actually can't wait to see this movie. Keep stacking on the talent. What do y'all think? Not only on Atwell, but on the revelation Christopher isn't single? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney's Live-Action "Aladdin" Has Found It's Jafar
I find myself wrong on this one. I was figuring the whole time if they were going to go for a relative unknown for Aladdin & Jasmine. They would go for big talent in the Genie & Jafar roles. Will Smith proved me half right on that one, but now it's been announced Marwan Kenzari will fill the role of Jafar. I saw him in the new Mummy (2017), & that's about it, if I'd blinked I would've missed him. So, it looks like besides Will Smith, we're going to get a whole set of fresh faces as he's joining Mena Mossoud (Aladdin) & Naomi Scott (Jasmine). He did apparently win a Golden Calf for Best Actor in 2013, which is something you can apparently win in the Netherlands. I'm gonna hope they know what they're doing with this one. Jafar is going to be one of those villains that's going to be hard to not come off "campy". He's a literal mustache-twirling villain. I'm all for casting calls & unknown talent though, so I wish them the best on this. Aladdin has always been one of my favorites. I'm really looking forward to seeing a live-action version done right. What do y'all think though? Relatively unknown Jafar? Who would y'all have seen take the roll if not? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney's Live-Action "Lion King" May Be About To Find It's Villainous Scar
Jon Favreau's directing Disney's upcoming remake of the animated classic Lion King, & we already know Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), John Oliver (Zazu), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), & Billy Eichner (Timon) are already on board for the July 19, 2019 release. The question on everyone's mind however is, who will voice Scar? Now, according to a The Wrap exclusive, Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to play the role made infamous by Jeremy Irons. This guy just does bad so good too. Though I had seen him in some things before, he really popped up on my radar as someone to watch when I saw him in Serenity. That's why when I heard that not only would they be using him for Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange, but that it was going to be a slow build with him turning, I was totally on board. At first when I heard they were bringing back James Earl Jones, I remember thinking they had to bring back Jeremy Irons. However, if these talks go through, forget I ever thought that. This would be an awesome Scar. He has that coldness & calm intensity about himMake this happen. What do y'all think? Can y'all throw me someone better if not? Put it in the comments, like, & share.
Disney Has Found A Director To Join The Rock For "Jungle Cruise"
Disney's taking another run at the whole "turning a ride into a movie" thing. This time it's the classic attraction Jungle Cruise. Co-Produced & starring the one & only "Rock", Dwayne Johnson. Now, according to THR, Jaume Collet-Serra will direct the action-adventure slated to start shooting spring 2018. Interesting choice. I've been slacking, & haven't seen The Shallows or The Orphan. I do recall being way more fond of the remake of House of Wax than I thought I'd be. As horror movies usually go, I enjoyed that one. That's the interesting part to me though. This guy has a strong horror background. Kinda makes me wonder what tone this thing's going for? This seems like the guy you would go to for a Haunted Mansion movie. I know this news has put The Shallows on the top of my watch list all the sudden. Any thoughts on this? Put 'em in the comments, like, & share.
Comic Book Sequel Planned For "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
This news will definitely get my daughters into a tizzy. They love all things Nightmare Before Christmas. Now they're finally getting a sequel of sorts to the 1993 Halloween/Christmas classic in the form of a comic book. ScreenRant brought the THR report to my attention Tokyopop is set to release the sequel comic series, Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero's Journey. It will follow Jack's dog as he's lost in Christmas Town. No word on how many issues this will run, but it's looking to launch in spring 2018. DJ Milky will write with Studio DICE picking up the art. This won't be Tokypop's first foray into the world as they've already done a comic adaption of the film. This will however, be the first officially licensed comic expansion of the original film. With the Nightmare fever never truly going away one tends to wonder if this does good, could we see another outing with the Pumpkin King on the big-screen anytime soon? Only time can tell, but I can't wait to pick these up. Even though it's taken me awhile to really appreciate The Nightmare Before Christmas, I've always loved the character of Jack's dog, Zero. Will anyone else be picking this up? Let us know why or why not in the comments, like, & share.
"DuckTales" Reboot Just Got Dangerous
I was reaching the age of too old for this when Darkwing Duck came around. However, me being me, I didn't let the ridicule stop me, I loved Darkwing Duck. This was probably one of my favorite all-time cartoons. It combined my love of DuckTales with my love of superheroes. And now, according to Chip & Co. from SDCC 2017, the terror that flaps in the night will return in the new DuckTales reboot. Just when I thought this couldn't get any better they announce something like this. they also gave a look at the new Ratcatcher, Darkwing's motorcycle, & his arch-nemesis Megavolt. With no word on how or when the Dark Duck will appear in the series, we'll have to make sure we're there for the premiere on Aug 12, the official debut on Sept 23, & beyond to find out. I didn't think I'd be as excited for a cartoon series as I am, but I can't wait for this. Check out more DuckTales stuff here, let us know what you think down below, like, & share.
Disney XD Teases Upcoming "DuckTales" Reboot
I've been all over this DuckTales reboot since I've heard about it. Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con Disney XD gave us a sneak peak from the premiere series event DuckTales: Woo-oo!. In this we see Huey, Dewey, Louie, & Webby embarking on their first adventure with Uncle Scrooge & Launchpad McQuack. This will be playing all day Saturday, August 12 on Disney XD, & I will be there. This clip has me more curious than anything though. It started off well with the back & forth between Scrooge & McQuack. That was funny, but after seeing it, I'm thinking the kids are going to take some getting used to. Up until now the nephews have always been pretty interchangeable. All you had to do was change their clothes. Now they all have their own personality. I'm sure I'll get used to this concept, but I can tell from the peak that it might take a little while. At least until I know who they are individually. Great tease though, & I can't wait to go on adventures with the cast of DuckTales yet again. What did y'all think of the trailer? Or the kids new personalities? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Disney XD Teases "Big Hero 6: The Series"
Disney XD unveiled some of what's coming soon at San Diego Comic Con. Included was this sneak peak of fall's Big Hero 6: The Series. I was a little put off when I saw the animation earlier this year, as it's not at all what we got in the film. This sneak peak has officially got me excited though. This looks like it's going to be a really good addition to Disney XD's lineup. This sneak peak comes from an episode titled Fred's Bro-Trillion as Hiro & Baymax get trapped in super villain Baron Von Steamer's lair. The whole series will pick up immediately after the events of the Academy Award winning Big Hero 6, continuing the friendship between Hiro & Baymax, his inflatable healthcare companion. Like I said this clip has put this on my must see list for the fall. How about y'all? Will y'all be catching the further adventures of Big Hero 6? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Is Lin-Manuel Miranda Disney's Drake?
Word on Collider Movie Talk from D23 on Sunday is Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton creator & Moana song co-writer, will be joining the great, Alan Menken composing the score for the live-action Little Mermaid. Now the craziest part about this news to me is this movie doesn't have a director, cast, or a release date as of now. Yet we know who's doing the music. I don't think I've ever heard of something like this. I've never heard of a movie announcing it's composer before it's director or cast, but this is a musical. So, I guess it's the perfect move considering that's the most important part. Disney's just locking this guy down though. With Moana, Mary Poppins, & now this. it really is like they're using the "put him on every track, "Drake Approach". After Moana though, could you blame them? Every song in that movie was not only on point, they had purpose & feeling. Passionately moving along the story at the same time. Teaming him with Alan Menkin though? Bravo! I can't wait to hear what this team gives us. What do y'all think about this awesome super power team-up? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
Apparently Disney Wasn't As Needy For An Aladdin As They Let On
Just days after letting everyone know they couldn't find an Aladdin after searching through 2,000 fresh faces, Disney has announced the cast for the upcoming Guy Ritchie film. Confirming Will Smith (Do you really need a reminder of who this is?) for the Genie, which we pretty much had known, at D23. As well as, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers/2017) for Princess Jasmine & Mena Massoud (Who?) for Aladdin. This is right down the line for what they were going for. I liked Naomi Scott in Power Rangers, I actually really enjoyed the first 3/4s of that movie. As for Will Smith, he's a great actor, I just hope he can dial back in to that funny. I know it's in him with Bad Boys & Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Even the first Men In Black he still had a strong comedic timing, & was fun. If we get that, this could be great. I'm just not sure he still can tap into that. As for Mena Massoud, he better be good. I want to see more of this. I like relative nobodies in main roles, I would love to see more of this.. As long as you surround them with talent, you can get a diamond in the rough of a performance. Any concerns with these choices? Let us know in the comments, like, & share.
